Halls cough drops and pregnancy

Hello!  I hope everyone is having a great weekend.  Does anyone know if it is safe to take Halls Cherry Mentho-Lyptus cough drops while pregnant?  My doctors office is closed today so I can't call to find out and I have a terrible cold.

Also, what about Ricola Honey cough drops?  I have both and I am unsure if it is okay to take either.

Thank you everyone for all the info!!!  I really appreciate it.

I looked it up and couldn't find anything that said not to take it so I took them.  When I called my doctor this morning he said they were fine.  I only took a few and the rest of the time I drank hot water and honey.  I feel so much better today but what a miserable weekend.

Thank you, again!!!

i had cough drops written on my pregnancy safe med list.  it did not list a specific brand, it just said cough drops.

My doctor told me that it was fine to have that exact brand and kind, only I had the mint flavored!  It's fine!  Even 6 pharamacists told me it was good!  You should do like 1 every 3 hours or so, if you don't feel the need for coughing that soon hold off until you start coughing again!

hi,
i had the same issue a month ago. i suffered through it. i made hot water and put lemon in it with some honey. honey is suppose to be good for a cough. it did help though. other than that i just did my best to not cough unless i really needed to. i kept up on the fluids and swollowed as much as possible. i did ask the pharmacist what i could take and she had nothing she could offer me cough drop wise. my husband did some reading and said not to have menthol either. which is in ricola and halls. even the kids stuff had menthol in it. so the pharmacist was no help to us really. however! at my next doctors appointment (after my cold was gone)  i asked about halls and he said no problem!! you can take em safely just done chain eat them or anything like that. my husband asked about the menthol issue and he said as long as its in moderation its okay. and that halls isn't a heavy dose like those high power numb your throat drops. but every doctor is different and every mother is different. it depends on how you feel and if you want to take medicine or not. but from what i've heard halls wont hurt the baby.
hope you're feeling better soon

This isn't really a question for your doctor...this question would be better answered by a pharmacist.  Pharmacists are EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the way your body processes medications and the effects etc.  Your doctor would know the answer as well but you'd get a quicker answer from a pharmacist and I'd give your doctor a break from these kinds of questions since he/she is probably a very busy person.

DH is a pharmacist and he did not let me have the halls. I don't know about the Ricola- you can ask your local pharmacist.
He did let me take the Halls vitamin c drops because they don't have menthol.
