Has a Body Pillow Helped You?

I am 25 weeks and some nights I am miserable.  I have pillows of various sizes tucked everywhere- under my belly, between my legs, under my arm, etc.  It will seem like I have figured out a way to prop up comfortably for a night or two but then the next night it doesn't work anymore and I start aching and have to reposition everything.  Before I go out and buy a body pillow I wanted your feedback.  Have those been helpful to you?  Thanks!

I have never tried a body pillow, but use to get as many pillows as I could and put one between my knees, under my belly, and hug one. lol. It only worked for a little while. I am now 32 weeks and was getting really miserable and achy. I think our mattress was bad. Since my hubby worked extra hard this month, we were able to get one of those tempurpedic mattresses, they even advertise it with a pregnant woman. If in 3 months we don't like it we can take it back. (definitely a plus!)  But let me tell you, just 4 days of having it has changed my life!! lol. I still wake up several times a night, but I am not achy and am VERY comfortable through the night. My back doesn't hurt or anything. I didn't really think they were all that great, but wow it is. I'm sure those body pillows are comfy too, at least they look like they are. =)

Shannon125- That is an excellent idea!  I may try using some extra sheets or towels before I go out and buy a body pillow or maternity pillow.  That way I can be in control of the thickness, etc.
Thanks for all the great feedback everyone!  I think I'm getting a little taste of what getting up several times a night will be like.  LOL

I actually hated my body pillow!!! I ended up taking the excess blankets and sheets that hang over the side of my bed and stuffing them under my belly and in between my legs. It's worked great for me!!! I like doing this better because the blankets are easier to mold to my shape than the bulky body pillow!!! Of course my husband gets aggravated because I keep stealing all the extra blankets!

I got a body pillow with my 2nd pregnancy...it was ok...I didnt' use it for the others...with my last two I had practically every pillow in the house on my side of the bed..I had a nest made..several behind my head to prop up on, one or two under my knees, and on my sides...

Now I just use a kind size pillow to put between my legs while I'm sleeping...it's much easier to roll over and switch positions with it rather than a body pillow...

The do have those maternity pillows...the ones that are kinda curved but i've never tried one

I used a body pillow with both pregnancies and I still use it to this day because I got so used to it. You have to realize that even if you get a pregnancy pillow, or a body pillow, you're still going to have a hard time getting comfortable and getting good sleep because your body is changing, organs and bones are shifting, making you feel sore and achy.

But I do recommend getting the pillow because it'll help your joints and you will be more comfortable than you would be without one.

I used a body pillow the entire time I was pregnant with my daughter and continued using is forever after. I used it as a nursing pillow too, it was more flexible than a bobby and I found it more comfortable. I am using it this pregnancy and I love it!
