Has anyone had subchorionic hemorrhaging during pregnancy?

G83
Hi, I have a healthy 2 year old son and had no complications during his pregnancy.  I've also recently had a previous miscarriage in August 09 that ended at 8 weeks or so.  From the start, they told me my cervix was open and that I was in the early stages of a miscarriage.  They found a normal heatbeat but also some slight internal hemorrhaging.  The Dr. wasn't concerned and I didn't have bleeding, just a strange purplish discharge occasionally.  Then I had a gush of fluid a week or two later, another ultrasound to check up on things, and that's when the doctor couldn't find the heartbeat anymore so I had a D&C done.

Now I'm pregnant afgain and I conceived after my waiting period as instructed.  I just went in for my first visit today.  They did an ultrasound and confirmed the heartbeat and so forth and I am 6 weeks 6 days!  However, I had the same internal bleeding show up on my ultrasound (outside the sac not inside.  Baby area looked good).  I believe the technician called it "subchorionic hemorrhaging."  She said they've see it in several pregnancies and that those pregnancies usually carry full-term with no issues.  She also didn't know the cause or think that this was related to my previous miscarriage, but she's also not a dr.

I'm unsure what to think about all of this and scared to get excited again or to tell anyone our news for fear that the same thing is happening all over again.  I've had no bleeding, or pain, etc.. and have all of the other "normal" pregnancy symptoms.  I'm trying not to worry, but that's easier said than done.  Wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows more about it so that I can get more info and hopefully ease my mind.  Thanks!

I have one too! I have spotted twice and that is when they found it (at 5w 2 d) I am 8 weeks tomorrow. WHile you are cramping or bleeding you are to be on pelvic rest and no lifting, tugging, sex etc.. My doc said that it is more common then once thought because of how us have gotten so much better they can be seen so easy now. THey watch for how large it is and where it is. Like most are small but some can get worse and bigger. And also if it is right behind the placenta or not. MOst disolve by 20 weeks and both mother and baby do fine. Bleeding does not nessisarily cause harm to the baby. If it does not disolve it will bleed out. I was so worried and there is nothing that can stop us from worring. THey will watch with us every 2-4 weeks to watch it does not get bigger and watch how it is doing and when it is gone. Make sure they do this!!!!!! Just make sure you rest when you need to and under no cercumstances lift heavy htings that can make you bleed!!! You have alot of blood flow to that area already! My baby is growing and doing fine so far and I ahve not bleed anymore. I am back having sex again too and noraml moving around just no lifting, even my sweeper up and down the stairs. I was told that they do  not know why they happen except that it can be from implantation and the baby comes unattched partly then reattaches. Oh and my doctor also said that it can be from loosing a twin ususally before you even know you had one. Best of luck to both of you!!!!!!!

im actually just experienceing the same thing! lol its really hard not to worry i know...i did alot of it the past few weeks!! I had some brown spotting and had an ultrasound cuz the doc said my levels were not good...my baby was fine but i showeed a bleed outside the sac as well....and my doc thinks it should cause no problem but is sending me to a gyno early just so he can keep an eye on things!! Also im taking it easy as i dont want to make things worse...i would try not to worry i havee read on the net that its quite commen and all thoes pregnancy went to term.,..but i have been on bed rest so hopefully things are stiull good...sometimes they make us worry for no reason at all!! Good luck and if you need to chat feel free to pm me...apparently you get the bleed from previous babys or d/cs from the scar tissue..( im on my 3 baby and had one d/c) so that can be my reason....keep me posted and try to relax..unless you get excessive bleeding i wouldnt worry i also had alot of cramping!! But my baby is so far so good...fingers crossed for both of us!! (Im now 11 weeks)
