How far along are you suppose to be? Has your doctor done any blood tests to check your hCG levels to see if they are rising or falling? I would wait on the D&C there are lots of women who were told they were miscarrying and needed a D&C and it turns out the next week at an ultrasound there is a baby and heartbeat. Speak to your doctor about doing bloods and at least another ultrasound.
I have had a nonviable pregnancy and a D&C. My HCG levels did not go up as fast as they should and each week we did an U/S there reached a time where it stopped growing and we knew it was really a no go when a HB never showed up at 6-7-8 weeks, i may have even been a week or two further then that. I knew he was right even though i didnt want him to be when even i could see nothing was happening, eventually I signed up for the D&C since my body didnt seem to want to do it on its own and I knew 100% it wasnt viable. Plus i wasnt willing to wait another week/s waiting and waiting after I had already been waiting and going to numberous appintments every week for like 6 weeks.
I would suggest having the Dr. send the tissue to the lab. My Dr. took a sample from the surgery and sent it out and they were able to tell us there was a chromosomal abnormality so that was mostly likely the reason for the M/C (its the case in about 60% of m/c) with this info. my Dr. does not see a reason to run further tests on me at this time. I had the M/C May 6th--was actually not that bad, was quick and almost pain free. I got my period June 7th and Ovulated i think on monday, so now we are back to TTC.
I wish you the best of luck and hope all goes well and you are able to figure this out!
Thanks Ladies for the responses. My progestrone is rising perfectly, I work in the er and had it test last night. June 6th it was 75; June 13th it was over 900; last night it was 19960; I'm trying to keep hope alive because the doc based this on not seeing a heartbeat last week and I was 6 weeks and 4days
Very possible to not see heartbeat yet. I too would wait on the D&C. Could def be too early to see anything yet.
I agree with Michele it is very possible it was too early. We had a scan with our last baby around that time and didn't see the HB yet, went back a week later and there was baby with a Hb. He's 2 years old now!
