I have read alot on the internet about it. And its shown that only 2% of women had a baby born with some form of birth defect, but they could not relate it directly to the meds. I just dont want my baby addicted to them or anything. But isnt it only if you take them close to delivery? ive read this to but i know internet info is very often conflicting. Ive also read that because your in pain your blood pressure can raise which is worse for the baby than the meds are. When my tooth hurt, i mean it hurt so bad i would sit there and cry. I would honestly contemplate pulling the thing out myself lol. (But then i know i could miss some of the roots so i through out the idea) But i just want what any other mother wants..to enjoy my pregnancy pain free even though i know thats not always the case. thank you both very much for the positive support
It's okay to take them. Just take them when you really need them. I had oral surgery in August because my mouth was so irritated and swollen. My right cheek was as big as an orange. Turns out I had an abscess because I had a hole down in my tooth which was noticeable anyway. The abscess got so big if I would have waited another day they told me I would have been dead. I never realized how serious a toothache could be....So I feel your pain on that :(
I've just been prescribed Lortabs for my headaches. Though, I am weird about even taking Tylenol, I know that my doctor is looking out for best interest for me and my baby. If I can't function enough to go about my day, my baby pays for it in the end... My headaches get so bad I don't eat, I don't drink anything, I just stay in bed for hours on end. Taking the Lortabs when I really really need them, has helped me a lot......
Anyway my littlest is pitching a fit right now because he's teething so I gotta run but to sum it up - take the pain meds, girl. Pain releases stress hormones that are bad for the baby - worse, in MOST cases, than the small amount of pain medicine that crosses the placental barrier.
