Hi, just a bit of advise needed. Im 30 years old and i had been trying for 8 years with my ex husband for a baby we split up 4 years ago. in that way i must of being lucky to have not put the child throught the divorce. if you see what i mean. But now i am neally four weeks late for my period, i have had a negative pregnancy test which was a home test. But i still have not started my period or having no signs off doing so. I am so nervours if i go to the docyors and they say no to.

All advise welcome. certainly from ladys that have beening through this. What was the outcome.

HCG is the chemical that accumlates in your body when the embryo attaches to your uterus.  It is only detected when pregnant (or when taking fertility drugs) - It is detected in your urine and if you pee several times prior to taking the test it is not built up strong enough to be detected in early pregnancy.  First morning urine is the strongest -but if you test mid day you need to hold for 3 hours prior to testing.  Tests like HPT or the blood type that only say pregnant or not pregnant (qualative) detect only at certain levels - however you are considered pregnant at 5ml - some tests do not detect it under 25ml.  Google HCG levels and you will see - also check HPT levels too... HPT that give lines - ask anyone.. we all question if we see the line or not so save the money on those and get a digital one.  If you still get a negative - ask you doctor to take your blood and get quantative  HCG with a level - not the yes/no one . what do you mean the level, what level. and how. yeah i did it midday, which i had already gone 6 times or more before hand. x

It took my sister 5 weeks after missing her period to get a positive HPT - I am not sure if that is common or not - but I would think it is possible... Test with First Morning Urine - as if you tested mid day without holding in it for 3 or so hours there may not be enought hcg to detect - also check the level it detects - some can be quite high -

During the time i was with him i had a miscarriage, but he has a child now to. i have scarring to my tubes but the docs say that i can still carry. My periods are usually regular. Can the HPT still be wrong. shell i do another one in the morning ?

If you are four weeks late and HPT are showing negative - you should call your dr to see if there is another problem. Did you see a specialist regarding the fact you were not able to get pregnant when you were married - if you knew if it was female or male issue.. maybe it was a male fertility issue and you can get pregnant....good luck
