Kicked in the stomach by toddler at 14 weeks

Probably a silly question, but tonight while I was trying to get my daughter ready for bed she had a melt down and ended up landing a really hard kick right to my lower belly. Right about where the baby is. It really hurt, I had cramping for about 20 minutes and now everything is fine and normal.

She always jumps on me and climbs over me, but this was the first hard hit. So mom's who have been through this before can you put my mind at ease and tell me not to worry. The baby should be ok since it's in a bag of water right?

On a side note being pregnant with a 20 month old makes the pregnancy go by quick becuase you don't have time to think about it, but harder becuase you're always lugging around a 25lb monkey. This kid is running me ragged.

Haha you sound like me and my 16 month old!  I keep telling him if his sister comes out looking deformed (I am almost 32 weeks along) it'll be his fault!  He's kicked me and rolled on me and sat on my stomach while I was laying on my side - that was the worst one I think.  Sometimes it hurts worse than others, but my baby girl is still just a moving and a kicking away in there - and all of our ultrasounds have looked fine.  We just had the 4D one 2 weeks ago.  They are well protected in there, but if you have bad cramping or any bleeding of course I'd get it checked.  Now, I obviously don't allow my son to purposely do all the things I said, it just sort of happens when we are playing, and it's not that often, but usually once or twice a day I'll at least get an elbow to the gut or something mild like that.  It is quite an experience being a SAHM with a toddler and one on the way!  Lord help us!  LOL

It IS hard to hurt baby especially this early on. The cramping was just your uterus yelling in protest to the blow! I've been jumped on and had my belly squished many a time by a flailing foot or wayward elbow or even a diaper-clad bottom. ;-)

Thanks ladies I figured it would be ok. No more cramping since last night, well for a few minutes this morning however that was unrelated to the kick. My daughter threw up on the kitchen table and it took me about 20 seconds before I followed suit.

I fell down the stairs big time when I was 17 weeks with dd and I remember the ob saying it's pretty hard to hurt the baby.

I agree with everyone else, but the only thing I don't like is the cramping, if you feel funny in yourself or if this returns please call your dr x

I couldn't tell you HOW many times I'd been jumped on, kicked, head butted, etc in the stomach during a few of my pregnancies by my then toddlers.  I've accidently run my belly into things really hard forgetting that it stuck out so far LOL.  It would take a good bit of trauma to cause damage.  Baby is snuggled in there nice and tight, and while it hurt YOU, baby probably only felt a tiny jolt.

I got a hard kick to the belly somewhere during the early third trimester. I was standing next to a slide, and a kid flew down it with his legs spread and one of his feet got me. I called my OB and he said that there is so much fluid protecting and surrounding the baby, that she would be fine. Of course, if you experience any spotting or notice other problems, get seen immediately.
