Ok so I am now 9 weeks pregnant and I have a uti. My doc precribed me the antibiotic macrobid. She said it is safe during pregnancy but I have read so many post from woman online who say macrobid caused them problems nor even miscarriage. I have had 3 miscarriages and this pregnancy seems to be going really well. So im very nervous to take this med. Do any of you ladies know of any natural ways to get rid of a uti? Also if you have taken this med during pregnancy, what was the out come? Thanks :)
It's listed as a Category B drug and is usually very safe while pregnant. Usually miscarriage is caused from something wrong with the child itself. Often when something goes wrong we look for a scapegoat and this can coincide with taking this. In fact I've actually heard that an untreated UTI/Kidney Infection itself can cause miscarriage. Don't be scared, your doctor would never prescribe anything unsafe.
Untreated UTIs can cause miscarriage/preterm labor according to my ob. She was very diligent about testing for that every time I came in and always told me if I had any symptoms to contact her. Macrobid is safe to use during pregnancy I was on it during two of mine good luck
