O/t...Sigh...toddler swallowed a bead. problem?

I'm not super worried because it's teeny tiny (the size of a pen tip) but she managed to snatch one up after one of her play necklaces broke and she ate it before my husband could get it from her....I don't think it will hurt her, but if anyone has information to the contrary please let me know....for now I'm just shaking my head and wishing the toddler stage wasn't so rough. lol

Abby swallowed a metal ring when she was 3.  I took her to the hospital.  They did an xray and saw it in her stomach, said to wait a few days and bring her back to see if it had passed.  It did, no problem.  She never had any issues with it. I don't think a bead will harm her.  I swallowed a safety pin when I was 8!!!  I never told anyone because I was so scared!!! LOL

I have done that so many times as a kid too :) including putting a huge napthelene ball up my nose!! :) I am sure it is nothing to worry about, but if possible and in case you put her on fruits already, its good to have kids eat some banana. That way it is sure to come out in the very next poop. My neighbours son swallowed a metal nut (that came off a loose screw), banana did the trick.

yes nothig to worry about Ivy,

My nephew swallowed a quarter and he was NOT a toddler;) boys do dumb things sometimes but it got stuck down in his esopagus past his wind pipe the full way and they had to go in and get it, he had ridgges all round liek the edge of the quarter does, he got to keep the picture as the dr put it "To help remind him not to do stupid stuff and think first" haha

Oh and my daughter put one of those travel chess pieces up her nose and the er dr put his finger on the outside of the other nostral and had her blow and it came out!! I never thought of that when it happened! She was 4:) SHe laughed when it came out and I thought, OH brother she just might do it again if she thinks it is funny but ahe did not thank goodness.

The only thing you have to worry about things they eat is making sure they pass th ewind pipe so if it is small have them drink alot to make for sure it is down, like the size you are talking about not the quarter my nephew ate:)

I would tell her she will poop it out and willhave to watch for it,haha wonder how she will react to that! kids are funny for sure and glad it was not a big bead!

LOL...have you seen Grumpier Old Men? There's a part where the little girl swallows a quarter, and the grandfather/great grandfather says "if she poops out two dimes and a nickel then worry" that might not be a direct quote but yeah...I'm sure she's fine, the only thing I would have worried about is if she started choking. Other than that you get to look forward to colorful poop, LOL.

That's the truth, Sun! I didn't think there was anything to worry about, but I wanted to check. man...toddlers can be such little stinkers. I'm not one of those lucky moms whose toddler isn't in to everything..my daughter is crazy curious so nothing is safe from her.

It's totally fine and will be pooped out tomorrow ;) just try and laugh. At least it wasn't up the nose SO many ER visits from parents w kids with especially beads up the nose. My lil Sis put a red M&m up her nose as a toddler couldn't tell if she was bleeding or not bc it was read lol. That had to be pried out during a trip to the ER. Children... They always keep us on our toes
