My sons dad didnt walk till 20 months, he didnt even crawl he just bum shuffled, he was just lazy, My brother is 2 and he doesnt even talk he just grunts again Laziness. Whereas my other brother from the same mum at the 2 yr old was talking by 2, Same amount of people around, Korben (the 2yr old) just chooses not to use his words that he knows) Its normal, but if you are worried advice is always around from Peds and drs and things. :)

Delayed walking can be normal, but it honestly sounds like your son may have some PT delays or low muscle tone. Your doctor's response is not appropriate. You can google "low muscle tone in babies" and see if he fits any of the descriptions.
Definitely start with a pediatrician and see what they say. You can also contact your local school district and ask for an early intervention evaluation. It is free and they are obligated to do an evaluation if you request it. If your son qualifies, they would provide the services for him.

Hmmmm....well I have a friend who has a nephew who did the same thing.  He was 15 months old when he started walking though but my friend told me that he never crawled.  Only scooted around on his butt too.  Please keep us informed!!!!

I have 6 children and my 7th on the way.  Everyone thinks that by a year old, babies should be walking or at least attempting and that isn't always true.  Most of mine have or shortly there after their first birthday, but my 19 month old didn't start walking until she was like 17 1/2 months old.  I had actually read that even if they are walking as late as 18 months old, that is still developmentally considered normal.  I never mentioned it to my ped because I felt she was fine.  She had met every other milestone and was crawling.  She did that a tad bit late but nothing that alarmed me.  I think she was like 10 months old when she started crawling.  If she hadn't started walking by 18 months old, I would have at least mentioned it to my ped.  But she started just in time.  LOL!  I also think she just had "Princess Syndrome", I like to call it.  She has 4 older sisters that dote on her and treat her like a princess and she just eats it up, so I felt that that was really all it was.  They were willing to carry her and she was more than willing to let them.

The only thing that really alarmed me about your post was the not crawling and walking.  So, I would def do just as you said, and take him somewhere else to be seen.  Some babies just do things when they are ready, but the milestones are go-bys to at least see if there may be something developmentally wrong.  So, I think you are doing the right thing.  Good luck!!
