OW OW OW!!!

I've posted a few times about pubic bone pain, and it's only getting worse. I can't get in my car without taking forever cause the seat is taller than my rear, so I have to climb up in it...Nighttime is a nightmare! With how often I get up to pee, or change position I feel like the jaws of life are between my pubic bone shoving it apart, and I have actually felt and heard it pop twice. I'm trying to walk a lot since I'm 36 weeks tomorrow, it hurts after a while but I keep going. I'm to the point now that even sitting hurts, I asked my dr about it yesterday she just said it would go away once the baby is born. SO...for those who have had the pain (sorry to point out only those with experience) OR know someone who had it...what the h-ll can I do to help it??? I don't mean pain medication, I mean stretches/walking/warm baths/etc...

You have something called symphis pubis dysfunction or shortened name SPD.
I had it as well when I was pregnant with my son.
I started about 36 weeks and got worse as my pregnancy progressed.
I had complained to my midwife about it but as she was totally useless she said to me "normally we provide a support belt to help keep this hips in place, but as you are due soon there is no point" and to top it off I went 12 days overdue before I was finally induced so I had 6 weeks of this pain. I couldnt walk well, my hip used to pop and click, I couldnt even lift my own legs or drive so I was so dependant on others to help me get about. In the end I used a dressing gown tie to tie round my hips, which actually helped keep my pubic bones together.
I would suggest going to get some physio the help and demanding a support belt.
There is nothing that can be done to stop it, but there are things to help with the discomfort.
Mine did go away after my son was born, but not for about a month. And I have been advised by my DR that once you have had it before, you have a higher chance of getting it again and possibly worse which could result in needing crutches or a wheelchair if you become immobile because of it. Its a scary thought, i but took the smart option of waiting a long time before i get pregnant again to give my body that extra bit of healing time to hopefully prevent it returning with a vengance. My son is 3 now and i am planning my second pregnany, so i am hoping i do not suffer to much when i get pregnant again.
I would suggest getting signed off work if your still working, and taking lots of bed rest.Keep your legs together wherever possible to help support the bones.
There is lots of info online to advise you.

I know exactally what you are talking about...I had that pain with all 3 pregnancies, mine hurt the most when getting up from a chair at work....I would have to get up, then stop for a minute cause it hurt so much then start to walk (like a penguin)...... it was so painful.  The pain did go away after the babies were born.  Hope you start to feel better!!

Aww...sorry to hear that you're in so much pain.
All the ladies have good advice! Have you tried even swimming to take some pressure off?
I agree with Chriopractic adjustments.....for me it would help for a few days and then I'd go back again but it gave me a good nights sleep for a couple days after.
Sitting on a yoga ball helped me quite a bit.

I had SPD with my pregnancy and it started around 12 weeks. I think I replied to one of your other posts.

Chiropractor helped the most. Night time was the worse for me too. Getting in and out of bed was almost impossible.

When you sit lean back so that your not restricting blood flow and relieves some of the pressure.

Try and stay off your feet as much as possible. My Dr said that bed rest is a possibility if it gets to severe.

Swimming was a great if you have access to a pool.

I ended up getting an epidural due to the pressure causing the pain to be worse during labor. I lasted til I was 6cm. It was about 2 weeks before the pain was completely gone after delivery. It was worse for about 3 days before it started getting better.

You are getting close to the end. Good luck I know how painful it is.

I've said something to the dr twice, she didn't help.

I know, 29 days and counting til my due date! I hope it goes away SOON after, and isn't too painful during labor. I swear at this point I'll more than be able to handle labor and delivery pain med free just cause I'll know this pubic bone crap will go away soon after.

My lower abdomen hurts too, I have a belly band I wear a lot, it helps. BUT so far I haven't found anything that really helps the pubic bone part.

I have had it much more mildly than you describe.  I have had more pain in my lower abdomen and getting out of bed or changing position at night is hell for me also.  I think mine is just muscular, though.  I have found taking a bath helps me a lot.  I also found this info about how to help it:

"What to do about pelvic pain during pregnancy:
·        Try some pelvic tilts, or relax with your hips elevated.
·        Take a warm bath to give yourself a bit of a break from gravity's effect.
·        You might want to invest in a belly sling (a specially designed crisscrossed sling made of elastic fabric that supports the weight of your belly), also to lessen gravity's effect. Ask your practitioner or check online for sources.
·        Get a massage (with a therapist certified in treating pregnant women — be sure to check their license and references), or try some complementary and alternative therapies."

I don't know about the massage part, lol.  Personally unless it was DH or the doctor doing the massaging, I would feel LESS comfortable.

I looked it up through a search engine a couple weeks ago when it started for me and actually got some medhelp posts from a couple of years ago from women who have a condition called "Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction".  I also searched that term and found some good info about it.  I guess it's not a usual condition, but a good amount of women have had serious pelvic/pubic bone pain and been dismissed by the OB, too.

I hope some of this helps you to find some relief soon!  Hang in there, not long to go now!
