Ovulation, and Sperm..

This may be a silly question to ask, but oh well, i was just wondering if when you ovulate is this the only time you can conceive or just the highest time you can conceive. I am only asking because women have said different things but my doctor told me with  my first pregnancy that i conceived while on my period. So say if my highest fertility day was the tuesday that just passed. Could i still get pregnant now? And if my hubby and i didnt have sex on monday (my other high fertility day) could we still conceive? I'm just thinking

And also, i know sperm can live in you for up to 7 days. But how long do you ladies think it all actually stays in for??

Thank you

Hello, Yes i ovulated on Tuesday November 9th, and me and the hubby BDed on that day, and on the sunday before that and the thursday before that... So if we did on my highest fertility date then it should be fine right.. there should be chance of conception, because i didnt  miss it... Oh man... I am worried now... HOW did i miss my ovulation??

Babbles123::::she's absolutely right. your best bet is every other day, but that's why I recommended every 4 (some people can't every other day, and 4 is the absolute longest I would go between BDs) . Like I said we BDed every day and conceived, but not everyone can manage that with their schedules. |Charity22::::And like I said before, it does seem odd that you conceived on your period but it's not unheard of, certainly :).

If you are trying to conceive you should BD every other day. That gives your partner/DH/DF time to build up stronger sperm instead of using the "back ups". Sperm can live inside the body for a maximum of 5 days, and that's only if the environment is right for them to survive that long. It doesn't mean every one of them will live for that long, or for that matter, it doesn't mean any will live that long...it's just the possibility that they can live up to 5 days. If you ovulated last Tuesday then you have already missed your opportunity to conceive this month. There is only a 24 hour window for the egg to be fertilized once it is released before it dies. If you had sex within 5 days before Monday or Tuesday you could have conceived and may be pregnant. I'm confused as to why your doctor told you that you conceived while on your period. You ovulate roughly 14 days BEFORE your period starts...it can vary by a few days...by the time you are on your period the egg has died and the lining of your uterus and dead egg are leaving your body...oh well, I'm not a doctor, but that doesn't sound right to me. Anyway, hope I helped some.

MOST women ovulate 14 days before their next period but there are certainly exceptions! I would try during what you consider your high fertility point, but if you're able, BD every few days the whole cycle! I would say the average for sperm staying alive in you is more like 5 days, so every 4 days a BD would be good. Not sure about this past tuesday....Good luck hon <3
