PREGNANT EPILEPTIC
WILL IT BE OK FOR ME TO GET PREGNANT AND GIVE BIRTH TO A CHILD IF I AM ON A PRESCRIPTION FOR LAMICTAL FOR SEIZURES? MY SEIZURES ARE STRESS RELATED AND IF I STOP TAKING MY MEDICINE, I WILL EVENTUALLY HAVE ANOTHER SEIZURE? MY BOYFRIEND WANTS ANOTHER KID, BUT I AM A LITTLE SCARED. CAN YOU HELP???
Only your neurologist(most people with seizure disorders have one, if you see another doctor for them, that is who I would talk to) would be able to make the correct decision regarding medication and your seizures. You need to make sure that you are okay and healthy before you worry about carrying a baby and then worrying about their health.
It should say to discuss the options you have available to you with your doctor before becoming pregnant.
my hubby's cousin has a child with a girl that has epilepsy. She did have to be on medication while pregnant. Your best course of action would be to discuss the options you have available to you before becoming pregnant. I would NOT recommend stopping your medication until you talk with your doctor either.
