Please explain?

i am currently 32 weeks and 2 days pregnant, ive been told that its impossible to fall pregnant only a week after finishing your period, and that its achaully 2 weeks after finishing when you can fall pregnant.  i fell pregnant a week after finishing my period and my dates match with what my doc said? please explain to me how this works and how it could be possible to get pregnant during that time.

Hi, thanks! i was just bit concerned because my friend has been trying to get pregnant and when i mentioned i fell pregnant a week after finishing my period, she told me thats not possible, so it got me thinking.

A woman can become pregnant during her period. If you have a long period, the period can overlap when you ovulate. For example, if you ovulate on cycle day 7 and your periods are 8 days long, then you'd ovulate during your period, therefore having to become pregnant during your period.

Also, what you may have heard is that you can become pregnant two weeks after the FIRST day of your period. You don't count two weeks from the time the period ends, but when it begins.

So yes, you can become pregnant a week after the start of your period. EVERY woman is different and every cycle is different.
