Please respond to the poll on this one about bottles, ignore the poll on my other question..thanks ladies (obviously this poll is about bottles LOL)

So what bottle are you using/did you use or which bottle was your favorite out of the ones you tried for you kid(s)?

also not to be rude or exclusive but please don't respond if you don't have babies yet ONLY because I want responses that come from first-hand experience...you know those 4AM feedings when you really rely on the bottle.

I also breast fed but used avent bottles, manual hand pump and mirowave stereliser. I love avent. Easy to clean, can be purchased anywhere, easy for bubs to learn to hold and everything fits togeather. Its not too expensive either. Have bought new bottles for each baby but have same pump and stereliser system. My cousin and I have shared them between us, as one finishes with them the other is about to have another baby. I think we have had one baby a year between us for the last 5 years.

LOVE Avent for bottles (w/ breastlike nipple). My babies never had colic/gas and while they did leak if I didn't screw them on correctly it was easily remedied. Best bottle for the price and pros!

I use the walmart brand. I am way too broke to be buying expensive bottles. lol.. Cole doesnt seem to have a problem with them at all. i have a couple of the soothies, without the straw, that my sister gave me from when her 2 year old was a baby, because they dont sell them anymore here. he liked them at first when he was a newborn, but now hes very content with the Walmart brand.  there not even flow or anything, i think maybe there gerber, im not sure, all I know is there orange, green and blue, with different designs all over them.

Cole did have a problem with gas, but i switched his formula to Enfamil Prosobee.  and he does great on it.

I'm so glad it did! that's definitely why I did it :). I mean I had some ulterior motives, I wanted some info for myself, lol, but I noticed while researching bottles the second time around that there's a ridiculous amount of information and even if you already have experience it can be overwhelming.

I really do recommend the Tommee Tippees especially if you're breastfeeding...the nipple, IMO, is as identical to the breast as I've ever seen...anyone who's interested you can go to www. tommeetippee  . us  ...remove the spaces.

I highly recommend at least peeking at them, the nipple is AWESOME..and very breast-like.

I exclusively breastfed my children.  But I made so much milk that I had to pump off to keep from being engorged all the time lol.  It came in handy on sunday mornings so I could send a pumped bottle to the nursery and not have to be called out of the service to feed the girls.  However the only bottle they would take was the Breastflow bottle because it has the shortest nipple and it wide like a breast.  I tried about 6 different bottles, but in the end it wasn't what I preferred it was what they liked.  So in short we used Breast Flow brand bottles.

I was going to use the Born Free bottles with my son, but he didn't like the nipple. Then we tried Avent and he hated the nipples on those, too, AND they leaked. So I hated the Avent bottles as much as he did. Then we tried the First Years BreastFlow, and he was okay with that for a couple of weeks, then decided he wasn't fond of that nipple, either. So we tried the Medela bottles, and they were also a no go. Then on to the Gerber Nuk bottles with the wide nipple. He didn't seem to mind those, but he was a little fussy with them.
End of story--I decided to get the $0.99 Gerber bottles and the tall narrow Gerber Nuk orthodontic nipples like tiredbuthappy described. That is the ONLY type of bottle and nipple my son will take. The boy will have total conniptions if you offer him anything different, lol.
So after spending a small fortune in bottles, turns out he likes the cheapest bottles best, and the nipples are pretty cheap, too. He gets a good latch that doesn't slide around in his mouth and he can firmly close his lips over the nipple where it narrows down. His gas issues lessened using these bottles. Like your son, he was King Fartsalot for the first 8-9 weeks of his life, lol.

Tommee is best for breast pumps and if you're breast feeding as well. I actually brought my first lot today :)....and a tommee tippee breastpump... it was really cheap cause there is a sale + my mum's discount card  WOOHOO

I think its cause of the 'breast shaped' top and the resemblement it has especially if you are BF as well... always better...

They are big... the best selling I think..

*bump* thanks Cassandra yeah I had heard that the Tommee's were really really big in Britain and no one in the US seems to have heard of them yet....but this is day 2 of using them and they've been wonderful!

Tired:: I know it's normal and it is definitely somewhat comical LOL...especially when you're holding them with your hand on their butt and it's just like a little whoopee cushion every 5 minutes...my daughter wasn't as bad as my son is but she was pretty gassy...I think she was about 8wks when she outgrew it too, which means I'm halfway there with Grey hehe.

I could never get Kahlan to use the nuks, she always preferred the soothie nipples because those were the binks we used with her...oddly enough Grey likes the TOmmee Tippee nipples but the soothie binks...weird kid.

I ended up using the gerber nuk orthodontic nipples with both of my girls (the narrow ones- not wide based). With my first, we tried almost every bottle system out there (almost a dozen) before finding one that worked. The firm nipple base and the shape allowed her to latch on to it better resulting in less gas.
My second did manage to latch on to the avent, but I HATE avent because they leak and spill everywhere, so we went back to the nuk with her too. She did do better on the nuk my girls had small mouths, so maybe that's partly why they did well on it?

A note about gassy newborns- my first was incredibly gassy and spent the first 2 months of her life farting. It was almost comical, and I do have video footage of one of her morning  fart sessions. My LC told me that it is very typical and normal for newborns to be so gassy. This is because their digestive tracts have so many small tight bends that bubbles get trapped more easily. She assured me that after 2 months or so, the baby's digestive tract would mature and she would be less gassy. She was right. My second wasn't as bad,  but still gassy. She also started to outgrow it it around 8 weeks, with no changes to diet or routine.

Forgot to mention that I used the nuk nipples on the medela bottles that came with my pumps and thAt I got from the hospital. They are bpa free and have been for a while compared to other brands.

My mum has always used Tomme Tipee bottles because of the 'boob' shapped top. I will be using Tommee Tippee... My SIL uses Tommeee Tippeee. I feed my Neice with Tommee tippeee bottles, because she is breast fed as well, and because of the teet shaped top its better and resembles a breast better as well..... :)
I know I dont have experience in feeding my own babyyy with these bottles but everyone I have asked said Tommeee Tipppeee

oh WOW this is some wonderful feedback...thank you EVERYONE I can't tell you how great it is to hear experiences with each bottle, as well as experience people have as far as advice from friends on which ones...it's so much information, I'll have to chart out the bottles and give check marks for each under certain attributes such as "price" or "recommended by someone with a gassy baby"..and see which ones seem to come out on top. right now I'm seeing the drop-ins as being the most popular, but we used those with my daughter and they were really easy and OK as far as gas went, but I didn't end up liking them and I can't really remember why. We still have the tubes (never need replacing) and we have some unused nipples and liners..maybe I'll give those a shot with my son if the Tommee Tippees don't work out.

I use the even flo purely comfort, they are the angled bottles...I have used them with my other two children and now I am using them with my newborn, and they seem to work very well...I have never had a gassy fussy child thus far...I did try the playtex vent aire ones but I really like the even flo better...and the extra nipples for these are much easier to find..

My first loved playtex ventaire. But my second daughter loved the regular Gerber bottles!
She hated the Playtex ones! They both hated the rubber nipples too lol
Good luck on finding the right bottle for your baby!

I like the Playtex drop ins.  I've used the playtex ventaire ones too (the ones that are bent), but Braeden really seems to prefer the drop ins.  He would fuss a lot with the vent air ones, but took to the drop ins easily. We used the same nipple on both types too, so it wasn't that.  Its also nice that they're easier to clean. Also, if you're storing milk, there are bags that can go right from the freezer, to defrosted, to the bottles.  Although the ones I got (gerber storage bags) were a little tight on the bottles and hard to get on, so we're just pouring milk in from the storage bags into the drop ins for now, which costs more money unfortunately.
Also, my little man is a tooter too!  Its not the bottle with him though he does it just as much when he's only being breastfed!

I have to go with Dr Browns all the way! With my son I tried every bottle out there and the only one he was satisfied with was Dr Browns so with my next baby I will go with Dr Browns with any future children.

Just a note though my son was formula fed, I dont know if that makes a difference, but I think it is just as easy if you decide to breast feed to put the milk in whatever bottle you desire!

I tried the soothie brand without the colic straw with our first - he made a huge mess with them! Milk was everywhere lol! We ended up buying the playtex ventaire and ended up using them this time around also...DD was gassy and fussy after eating even while she nursed. When I didn't bf anymore we tried regular formulas but ended up on Similac Sensitive. She's fine now :-) So I have to say Playtex Ventaire...

I want to add that a friend of mine bought the born free and loves them. The only drawback is the price...But it they help then I guess they are worth it!!

For the first 8 weeks I had to pump and feed my now 2 years old son. I used Playtex Dropins. Very easy to clean and you are able to push out the air befor e you start feeding. With this baby I am hoping I won't need any, but if I do I will definitely use Playtex Drop ins again.

Also I used Gripe Water for gas. For me it was much effective that Mylicon.

Yeah, my kids don't like the nipples shaped like that they prefer the orthodontic (is that the right word?) shaped ones.  Anyway you know what I mean LOL

I only know one person who used them personally, and they're who recommended them to me. She said they work really well in terms of reducing gas and nipple confusion. (She breastfeeds and supplements with formula as well)

oh okay makes sense...so you didn't like the medela nipples either then. that seems to be the overwhelming complaint with those...they're really freaking long and hard (wow that sounds so wrong????) .

I didn't use the nipples that came with the medela becuase my kids didn't like them, I just bought several different ones that would fit and tried them till I found one that worked.
