Hi Ladies,
We are closing this thread. We are not allowed to give advice on illegal activities and in this case, smoking marijuana is not for medical purposes, so therefore it is illegal.

Everything u eat n drink will go to baby thru the breast milk so just keep that in mind
I am not sure about smoking weed but drinking I know can have effects on the baby my dr told me its still better to breast feed if you smoke (ciggarettes that is) rather then bottle feed bc formula is way worse then actual breast milk and is still better then to not do it at all she just said to wash hands and wear a jacket or other item of clothing before handling baby or b fedding I'm a ftm and want to breast feed I drink so I can't do that for awhile but I went without for 9 months and never really was a heavy drinker wine on occasion is what I prefer
You're welcome :-) good luck with breast feeding if you choose to do so hard at first but so rewarding
Thank you sarah for an honest response! I live in a state with legal medical marij. and my doctor said it was okay to smoke while pregnant as well. The only thing I was told about bfing and smoking was that it can cause the baby to sleep more (thc in the milk) and may lower milk supply. I'm 10 days post delivery and haven't taken smoking back up just because I don't want to risk my supply and we have a hard enough time waking our lo up when it's boob time, but I'm not opposed to starting up again once we're done bfing.
First of all no one is being judgemental don't ask questions without wanting to hear the facts. Smoke is not good for the.baby wether its medicaided or not n im sure they will give u the weed n pill form if u needed it that bad n drinking isn't good.if u wanna breast feed point blank
Living in a state where MEDICAL marijuana is legal, yes it is very likely that your doctor can tell you such. I believe this post asked for NON JUDGMENTAL replies and advice. Smdh.
Drinking alcohol while breast feeding carried significant risk that your baby will get some of that alcohol. You can pump and dump or like the other post said, use test strips to see of your milk is okay for baby. Otherwise you're gonna have to make a choice. Drinking or smoking once in a while isn't the most horrendous thing you can do (although I'm sure some judgemental person will probably reply to this and say otherwise). But you have to realize your milk will be affected. Pump ahead of time so that baby will have a good supply and then test the milk before you go back to the breast. You doctor can give you even more suggestions and advice. I'd say oh to him or her, you're less likely to get scolded or judged like on here.
My personal advice since I used to smoke before I got pregnant, you went 9 months without smoking, one more year or 6 more months shouldn't be too hard. Just for breast feedings sake. And then once their off the boob, you can make that personal choice for yourself. Good luck and I hope you find a good answer.
Plus in almost every state if you test positive for drugs twice at appointments cps has to be called so again I don't believe your doctor said that.
Ok so a doctor is not aloud to tell you it's ok to do some illegal activity they can lose their license it's an unprofessional act so no offense I don't believe they said that plus smoke inhalation is not good for your child first or second hand weather it us cigarette or marijuana. But like said above if you want to do those activities you shouldn't breast feed since your baby gets everything from your milk.
What doctor told u that????? Smoking weed is.fine during pregnancy. Girl stop it. If it was fine women wouldn't be getting their children taken away from them when they give birth. Besides that if you want to smoke n drink do u but make sure u can take care of a baby under the influence which i wouldn't recommend. N no breastfeeding n drinking or smoking doesn't mix
I wouldn't breast feed if you choose to drink and smoke. Baby gets everything you get through your milk. They even have to prescribe you certain antibiotics if you're breastfeeding. You can pump and dump if you drink or there's strips to test if there's alcohol in your milk but definitely wouldn't smoke for sure.
