Twins?

So, the doc wasn't quite sure.  I'm just 5 weeks 3 days.  This is what the sono showed this morning.  Baby 1 is a for sure, looking and measuring great.  What do you think about baby 2?

I didnt mean to sound cruel, and I'm sorry if i did. I just didn't want to say "oh it definitely looks like it", only to have you find out its not. If it were me it would hurt me more.

I was surprised, when we saw the heartbeat I was measuring 5w6d! Good luck at your scans!

Yes, I'm going back on Tuesday and then again on Friday.  They are closely monitoring me cause I'm a ball of nerves!  We had a miscarriage in December '09.

We knew that twins was a possibility with the amount of follicles I had last cycle, so that's why they've been monitoring me.  I'm pretty sure it's just one, but who knows!  We probably wont see the heartbeat until next Friday.  Looking forward to it.

Congrats! I had my first scan at 5 weeks and there were 2 sacs. My OB said we would have to wait until we saw fetal poles and/or heartbeats to be able to confirm twins or not. We went back a week later and we had one baby with a strong heartbeat! We had just miscarried twins Christmas Day so I was shocked! Good luck! I know the wait it horrible. Do they have you scheduled for another scan in a week or two?

Not sure that was the nicest thing to say, but I might just be hormonal! I do know all about "vanishing twins"... I wasn't wishing for twins, and certainly wont get my hopes up.  We've been trying for 4 years, with a previous miscarriage, so one healthy baby is what we're praying for.

Sometimes there are twins in early pregnancy but one of them is absorbed by the other so I wouldn't get my hopes up too much, just in case you go back and theirs only one. But good luck! I wish you the best 9 month and a healthy birth!
