i am TTC for a girl :) and i am looking for unusual names as well, i go about it by the meaning, i dont like my name and ever since i found out what my name mean and those of my sister i am a bit angry with my parents, however, my favorites sooo far are:

Congrats on your little girl!!
(And congrats on finally liking the name "Tabitha"--it's taken me about 20 years to like having it as well. :-)
Kiera is a beautiful name, and not heard too much this side of the Atlantic.
If I end up pregnant with a little girl (and I hope I do), we're calling her either Shiloh, Shalom, or Medora.
Medora comes from Lord Byron's poem "The Corsair".
One of the best suggestions I've heard about finding an unusual name was to look through your favorite novels/poems, and browse the character names.
19th Century novelists & poets are especially great for interesting & unique names.

My Name is Amberlee, i very rarely hear it, just a suggestion =)
i think keira conlin is lovely
Ohhh, like gone with the wind!! I have always loved here name!! I will have to run that by DH:)
Scarlet Marie....I like it.
I suppose I could make this easy and just name her after me , lol. I do like my name, it took about 20 years but I like it now, hehe.
The last name is Conlin. Very irish. Maybe I should be looking for an irish name, lol, IDK:(
Yes, I am from way up north (NH) and DH grew up and most of his family is from Baton Rouge LA (deep south). DH still has a hard time with words like 'pen' or 'den'-it sounds as if he is saying 'pin' or 'din'...no offense! I just wanted a name that everyone one could say properly! :)
LOL-Sydney was another girls name we had picked out like 10 years ago when we were dating! I still like that name too :)
Well, my name is Samantha. But I was born in 1990, and I haven't seen too many little girls with that name nowadays.
Yeah---there's just a difference between a southern short e sound and a northern one, lol. To a northerner it sounds like a short i. It doesn't bother me since we are both originally from Alabama (we grew up an hour apart and didn't know it!).
I can't even fully commit to Kendall though... I don't know what I want to do, I'm so darned indecisive!
I really like Cicely too, it's so pretty like Sydney but much more rare.
We had considered Kendall for our oldest-but my dh is from the south, so his family pronounces it 'Kindill"-It drove me nuts, so I figured it would never work if they could not pronounce it properly!! But I still love the name :)
I wanted to go a little more uncommon the second time around, because my oldest, Madelyn, is not uncommon at ALL ( I go into stores all the time and hear people calling for their 'Maddie's"), and people hear her called Maddy and assume her name is Madison, which is also very popular.
SO, I heard Jordana on a tv show, and wasn't sure if I liked it, because I had never heard it before-but the name grew on me so much! I love it, and I cannot imagine dd with another name, it is so her (originally, she was going to be Makenna, which is also growing in popularity).
Also, DD's middle names are Rylyn and Sage. My oldest's middle name's are Ava and Rose(my girls have 2 middle names)(also very popular 4 years ago, when she was named)
I was also going to suggest Cassidy, but I can see that has already been suggested. A friend named her dd that. I also like Delany, I think that is cute. (Can you tell I love irish names??)
DH and I had the name Hayden Blake picked out if we were to have a boy, we had that picked out in like 2000, when we were dating. Now all the 'ayden'/aiden' names top the lists for boys AND girls(Caiden, Aiden, Jayden, Hayden, Brayden, etc)....what a difference 9 years makes! Whoever said in this post that any uncommon name now, will become popular, is absolutely right. My aunt named her boys Ethan and Logan 18 and 13 years ago, and we in the family had not really heard them much-she felt she had given them unique names. Now all these years later, they also top the lists' for boys names. And that was 18 YEARS ago...time and names preferences can over time....I am waiting for Jordana to jump onto the top 100 girls name list at some point within the next few years....
But classic names, are always beautiful too, and you can never go wrong. I love names like Olivia, Elizabeth (my middle name), and Sophie.
I do hope you are able to find a beautiful name that you love and fits your special little girl to a T. That is how I feel about the names I chose for my girls. Best wishes.
