Waiting the full 6 weeks to have sex again...

Okay, so ofcoarse, I was told not to have sex for 6 weeks by the hospital peoples.
Why?

I mean, I understand the whole thing that women are very fertile after delivery... but if you're healed up, and are feeling fine... you got protection-
why not?

I've been told not to do it, but then I've been told it's fine aslong as you're careful.
Can anyone tell me why exactly we're not supposed to for that long?
I'm just curious.

Thanks. =]

It's not just about healing..it's about preventing infection as well WHILE your body heals.  ANYTHING "foreign" (tampons, condoms, vibrators, even a penis) carries bacteria no matter how clean it is...and after your body has gone through the "trauma" of giving birth you are more succeptable to infection even if you had a c-section.

Well Josh n I decided to go ahead and try it.
He went and picked up a box of condoms, since we gave the ones we had away to my sister since I was pregnant, and really didn't need them at the time. lolol.
We took it easy, and it's been about 4 hours and I feel great... not to mention RELIEVED because it's been a WHILE.
sorry if tmi. lmao.

I told Josh not to get his hopes up because that's probably gunna be the last time again for a lil bit. lol

Oh yeah, just be careful when you do get back in the saddle.  Make sure that you are using some sort of protection b/c you are very fertile after having a baby.

Now I am not saying that you should do as I did but i was having sex as soon as my incision healed from my csection which was about 3 weeks.  I could have probably went before then but i was too tired to even think about sex.

I would try and wait until it's a little closer to the six week mark because you had a c-section.  You might feel fine now and be healing great on the outside, but you have a lot that needs to heal on the inside.  I had an ectopic pregnancy and got cut like a c-section.  I felt fine after about two weeks so I stoped doing what I was suppost to and picked up my daugher, now I have a bump on my stomach and they think it's scar tissue that healed wrong because I put to much pressure on my muscles and shouldn't have.  You could also give yourself a hurnia.  Just my opinion, but from my experiance I felt healed and wasn't.  Also, they didn't have to cut into my uterus like they did for you, just my abdoment to get to the tube.  You don't want the scar tissue on your uterus to grow weird or anything like that, it could affect other pregnancies.

Yeah it's been 16 days for me since I've had Ivy.
I feel great, besides the fact that I'm tired from being up all night. lol.
But it was making me mad because I like NEVER wanted to have sex while I was at the end up my pregnancy, but now that my hormones are back to normal I'm like AHH!!! COME HERE!!!
lmao!

They say to wait 6 weeks so your body heals, but everyone heals differently.

I did it 3 days after the first, and 4 days after the second.  If your feeling fine, go for it.  But just take it slowly.  You may need some lube because it can be very dry.
