Week 5 spotting

I am 5w 1d preg with my 3rd child. With my first I had to take progesterone but with my second I didn't. I have had pinkish spotting for the last 3 days. very, very light. I have an appointment next week but I am worrying every minute. Is this pretty mormal? Just because I took progesterone in my first doesn't mean I will have to with the others right? Thanks for reading my post, I am trying to stay positive.

Ok went to the OB today and got blood drawn. My hcg level was at 50 on Friday so I am hoping that it's going up. I had an internal ultrasound on Friday and they didnt' see anything good or bad. So maybe I am not as far along as I thought, The good news is that there is still no spotting and they measured my uterine lining and it's at 20mm thick! My doc said they expect to see it at 5-10mm so that is good because that means that something is going on in there. I can find out blood results on Thursday so I will have to wait till then and if my progesterone is still low they are going to start me on promentium. I am feeling cautiously optimistic. Just have to take it one day at a time.  I'll keep an update posted to those who are reading this. My due date is estimated at 12-31-2010. :)

Definitely keep a positive outlook - you are absolutely right!  And yes, worrying will do ya no good for sure!  I admire your reality based mindframe - good for you!  However, that is BS what they said.  If you don't need, it WON'T be harmful.  There are many doctors who prescribe it without knowing if a woman has low progesterone or not.  They just feel that it may or may not help, but it certainly won't hurt.  But, you go girl for your positive outlook.  That is the absolute best thing for ya right now.  Hugs, and I hope all works out.  Keep me posted!

Well I am going in on Monday. They said they can't just call it in b/c if I don't need it then it may be harmful. Plus I didn't need it with my daughter (my last child). I am not going to worry too much, what will that do? If anything else happens before then I will go to the hospital. I only had a light spot on Thurs and today in the morning but then not the rest of the day. Still trying to keep a positive outlook. Thanks again!

Yea, seriously???  Just explain to them that you understand that they can't see you until then, but at least until then, can they call in the prometrium.  Explain that you needed it in your previous pregnancy and that you are spotting now.  I really wouldn't wait around if it were me.  It could make all the difference in the world with this pregnancy.

Thanks guys, I have called the office but I haven't been to that particular office in a while because we moved. The soonest I can get in is Tuesday. I guess I will just say positive. Since I didn't need it for my second one maybe my body has adjusted; It has been 6 years since my oldest. I'll keep ya posted.

I couldn't agree more with jschoch8.  And, if you needed it before, there is a good chance that you will need it with any future pregnancies.  You just may produce lower levels of progesterone for some reason.  The spotting does seem to indicate that you should be on the progesterone.  It certainly won't hurt anything.  And I wouldn't wait.  I too would ask if they can call in the progesterone for you so you can start it immediately.  Good luck to you.

This sounds to me that you need progesterone again. I would call your doctor to see if he can prescribe it to you over the phone just in case, so you can take it before your next appointment.
