Congrats!!!! If you are already dilated I agree with the others that you shouldn't need the gel. Breaking your water if you are worried about the pictocin might be able to just start labor like joy said. I'd try that first and the pictocin if thongs don't get going.

CT24 - you are already dilated and shouldn't need the gel, no. You can ask that they break your water and wait a few hours to see if that jump starts labor if you're nervous about beginning Pitocin and you should also be free to move around. Make sure you post a birth story and a pic of little one when they arrive!!!

First I want to wish you the best.
I was induced with my daughter 8 days overdue. I was 2 cm dialated and had my waters ruptured. I went awfully quick and had her in 4 hours. I also opted for the epidural as the contractions jsut didnt seem to go away.
Good Luck tomorrow

If you are past 40 weeks, your induction should go just as it's supposed to.  At least mine did.  I was 40 weeks 2 days and 1 cm dialated.  I checked in to the hospital at 7am.  Then, they hooked me to the pitocin drip to get the contractions started and also to some kind of sugar water stuff in an IV that keeps you hydrated.  Every 30 min or so, they increased the amount of drip until they were at the max, which was around 1-2pm.  At that point, the contractions were really strong and I opted for the epidural.  Then, it was smooth sailing!  LOL  My husband still can't believe the difference it made.  A little past 6pm I was ready to start pushing, which I will admit was a little tricky because I couldn't feel what was going on.  But, at 6:53PM I pushed out my son after an episiotomy.  I will tell you that was the worst part of it all was healing from that.  My female parts were sore for a few days from the stitching up, but all in all, it was a wonderful experience and much better than I was dreading that it would be.  Best of luck to you! :-)
