bv and metrogel during pregnancy?

Im currently 21 weeks pregnant and got diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis.  The NP precribed metrogel for 5 days at bedtime. I havent found the courage to take it yet, because its inserted vaginally.  The warning states its a category B and can be passed through the placenta.  Has anyone else taken metrogel during their pregnancy? If so wad everything ok?

When I was 11 weeks I was diagnosed with the same thing and prescribed metrogel as well. Same directions, it definitely felt weird but it cleared mine up and I had no side effects. Just feels really odd, and it has to stay in there. The only thing I'd say was bad was the morning after there'd be a lot of mucus come out, keep panty liners on hand for sure and good luck!

In my opinion, it would be safer to take a category b drug than to continue to have a bacterial infection. Bacterial infections can cause preterm labor as well as other symptoms. Tylenol and many other drugs are class b drugs and they are deemed safe. I would do what your doctor says asap. I don't have personal experience with this buy just my thoughts on the matter. Good luck and get well.

I'll be 20 weeks Monday and my doctor also prescribed me Metronidazole Gel. I'm gonna take the second round tonight. I'd rather take it than not and experience the complications of having bv in the second trimester. I googled it first and it said bv untreated can cause premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor, and uterus infection. Just don't insert it all the way, as I do. My doctor said only about an inch.
