Not sure if this would apply, but when I ran a lot I would get cramps in the middle of the night that would wake me up screaming and my trainer told me that I needed more potassium, so I ate a banana every day and drank grape juice (both high in potassium) and it seemed to ease the cramping. HTH
I had the same pain with baby #1 I would wake up in the middle of the night screaming in pain, massasing never helped it:(
Try standing on a flat surface (hardwood or kitchen floors, not carpet) put your foot flat and streach the muscles in your calf without bending your leg. I dont know if that makes sence to you but it worked miricles for me, it was my doctors suggestion. My floors were cold, I dont know if that makes a diffrence or not. I didnt know it came from lack of calcium, but that would explain the reason for mine I guess. with my last pregnancy and this one I have been taking cacium supplements because I dont get enough with out them. And so far none of that for me. I hope that works for you. You'll have to let me know if it helps at all, when I did it the pain went away immeditly:)
Yup! Postassium is what you need. Works every time and bananas are a Great! source.
I will definately try your suggestions! I hate bananas, but I'll eat them if it will make the cramps go away!!! I have also heard that standing on a hard surface will help to ease the cramp, it's just trying to make it there when I am in pain. I have to go through 3 other rooms before I get to my kitchen where the floor isn't carpeted!! I was in so much pain with a cramp in my leg last night that my husband woke up and said he thought he was in bed with a sailor!! lol!! I guess I have quite a potty mouth when I hurt!!
You need to check with your Dr, but I know my mom just had a stroke and her pottasium was low and they gave her a little blue pill. You might ask your Dr if there is something you can take. That way you don't have to worry about eating something you don't like. Only thing is it's just another pill to take...lol Good luck and feel better!
I feel your pain. I think you are lacking potassium as another poster pointed out. Try that with extra water everyday.. that should help. I need to take my OWN advice. lol.. I'm not a big water drinker!!
Muscles can hurt and spasm when you are dehydrated as well. So eat some bananas and make sure you're getting PLENTY of water!
yep.....i hated those i would wake up in the middle of the night and cry they hurt so bad....doc said i needed more potassium and calcium...he told me to take tums before going to bed and eat a few bananas throughout the day....it worked considerably!
