contractions??

I don't know if I'm having real contractions or Braxton Hicks contractions...I get this cramping feeling, like when I have my period. Sometimes they're stronger than other ones, and I'd say they last about a minute. These last 2 days, I've had even worse back pains than normal, and have been having "cramping" feelings in my hips... At my last OB appointment, I was dilated to 2, and my cervix was still thick. I don't think I'm having regular contractions, but they are relatively painful... I'm 39+3 right now, and I'll have another OB appointment this week. I'm just curious in others opinions if I'm having real contractions or not... Thanks in advance..

I'm hoping they're real! We thought my water broke last Thursday, and I was cramping all last week. From what I understand, real ones are supposed to feel more like menstrual cramps, and that's exactly what they feel like. Just some hurt more than others.

It sounds like  real ones to me . Real contractions can stop. My doctor said if you drink lots of water they can sometimes be stopped. If you are able to time about how long they last and if they are close together it's the real ones . And considering you are so close to due date it's possible

Real labor contractions will NOT stop! They will keep on coming and get closer. If your water breaks or they do not cease within 2 hours I would recommend calling your hospital and making a trip up there :) just relax. You'll KNOW when it's time
