I was just told I have a heart shaped uterus. Have had two miscarriages because the eggs keep implanting on or around the septum. I will have the surgery to remove the septum in a week or two. I am able to concieve fairly easily, the first took 4 mos, the second 1 month.
My mum has. Heart shape uterus, she had no trouble cncieving but had c sections with the three of us
Ovulation comes from hormones in the body triggering an egg to ripen and pop out from one ovary or the other. None of that is triggered by or begins in any way in the uterus -- the uterus also follows the instructions of the hormones. The ovaries are pretty freely moving in the abdomen, in other words, one ovary is not a captive of one side of the uterus and the other a captive of the other side. (A left ovary, for example, can pop out an egg, it can float around in the abdomen, and be caught by the end of the right tube and sucked down into the uterus. ) The periods also come in response to hormonal instructions from the brain, so both sides of the uterus have endometrium build up and shed at the same time.
I think that would be if you have a completely divided uterus as in having two uteruses but otherwise it's the same uterus and one half doesn't bleed without the other half.
Alright , I am to a very regular with my cycles . but i've heard you still can ovulate on the other side of the uterus , so then would you still have a period from the other side?
I have a heart shaped uterus and had normal periods all my life. I carried my son to full term, also. It is not a serious issue unless the uterus is totally divided by a septum down the middle so it looks more like two uteruses. Even then, the septum can be removed. Pregnancy happens the normal way, the only thing that might block success is if the embryo implants on the septum, which has a reduced blood supply. If a uterus is more like double rather than just heart-shaped, it is possible the baby will have growth restrictions (which is why getting an MRI before trying to conceive is a good idea, to know how big your septum is and whether it should be removed). The growth restrictions might make a person deliver early, but as I said, in my case, the septum didn't affect anything at all and my son grew fine and I didn't go into labor until he was due.
