Breastfeeding for me never hurt at all. So i think its different for everyone. :)
Thanks guys!.. im 26 weeks tomorrow and ive started leakin a few days ago . People has been telling me that it means ill have a good supply .. not sure if its true but i hope !
With my first baby girl we had a rough start. She latch on good at first but then stoped latching as well when we got home. so i saw lactation consultant and I found out I wasn't making enough milk. After I started pumping drinking more water and eatting better I started making more. With my second baby breastfeeding went great. I recommend seeing the what Lactation consultant at the hospital even if it's going well. Drink tons of water and make sure your eatting enough. dont worry about gaining weight you even with eatting more u lose its because you breastfeeding. pump right after your done with each feeding. If u have trouble making milk latation cookies and mothers milk (it's a tea) work great. Also don't stress being stressed makes u make less milk and could even make u dry up.
I would definitely see a lactation consultant while you're at the hospital or even after you leave call or go in to talk to one. I was a ftm and always planned to breastfeed, but once my daughter was born and it came to actually do it I had no idea what to do. The lactation consultant was a life saver lol we managed to breast feed for 17 months before my daughter self weaned (mainly because I was pregnant again). It can be pretty difficult at the beginning for some moms because of pain but stick with it! It will get better and it is 100% worth it. I was one of the lucky ones however and never felt an ounce of pain when it came to nursing. Also get a boppy pillow lol best thing I ever bought!
You should look into taking a breastfeeding class. I did and honestly it helped me tremendously. They can be kind of expensive, so u can always look things up on YouTube also. They can give u a lot of info on the benefits of breastfeeding and how things work.:)
My baby had no issues latching or eating. I waited 2 weeks before introducing a bottle so she wouldn't get confused or lazy knowing breast milk is a little harder to get, unlike a bottle. She is almost 4 months and we're still going strong. Going to breastfeed as long as I can. It hurts the first 3 weeks regardless if your baby is latched correctly. The initial latch and sucking hurts the worst at first. Your nipples get sore, cracked and can bleed. I almost gave up, but started putting my milk on my nipple after every feeding and letting them air dry and they healed really quickly. Also pump in between feedings, drink lots of water. But, u can't pump all the time and expect to keep your supply up that way. Baby needs to be on your breasts, that allows hormones to be released and u will produce more milk. But, breastfeeding isn't for everyone. If u can't produce enough it if u simply want to formula feed after a few weeks, don't feel bad. Breastfeeding doesn't make u a better mom that someone who uses formula. I wish u the best!
Breastfeeding can be quite difficult as its a skill both you and the baby have to learn. It can take a bit to feel comfortable. That said i never had any pain with breastfeeding and the nurses at the hospital showed me how to get the baby to latch properly. My baby spent 3 weeks in nursery and when he came home i wasnt able to supply enough milk and he lost a lot of weight and had to formula feed even though i tried pumping, medication etc. If its uncomfortable for you keep at it but make sure you get someone to check baby is latching correctly as it shouldnt hurt at all. It can take a couple weeks to really get it down pat so try not to let first impressions change your mind on doing it. Good luck youll do fine. :)
