group b strep test

This will be c-section #3 for me...

My question is why the group b strep test is necessary for scheduled c-section deliveries.  I understand why it is necessary for vaginal deliveries...it seems like an unnecessary test for c-sections though...

I'm not sure.  I don't understand why they have to test for it with every pregnancy to be honest.  I figure if you are a carrier once you always will be but they test me for it every time.  So they just give me antibiotics while I'm in labor.  But I have had all vaginal deliveries.

They just have to take precautions to prevent lawsuits. There's never telling what can happen and what can be possible... in other words, I have no CLUE! That is a VERY interesting question. I hope someone here can give you more insight. But what I said is probably part of it.
