Ha ha well I broke all the rules and the week after I found out I was pregnant I went and bought dresses because I just knew it was going to be a girl. By the time I was 30 weeks we had 99% of the things we needed. It worked out perfect because at 31 weeks I got put on bedrest until I had her 4 weeks later.
tax returns are great for buying baby stuff...im not sure when im going to start buying baby stuff...im not sure if im going to find out the sex or wait it out...im leaning towards waiting it out so i might just start picking up a bunch of white onesies after im 20 weeks...still up in the air...i basically put money in savings and will use that to get what the baby needs when he/she comes
best of luck
thats alot of help thnx evryone :) i don't want to buy big things now as i'm getting a house at the start of month so i want to concentrate on that at the moment but it would be nice to buy like little booties and like socks right now lol just bit by bit. i'm also in the uk so we don't get baby showers unfortunately !
i bought a few little things like outfits just for fun after i found out the gender at 16 weeks...and my mom has bought a few blankets and stuffed animals. then after christmas i bought his crib bedding set. and im 28 weeks now so we just purchased a crib, changing table and a dresser. everything else im waiting to buy until after both of my baby showers. just so i can see what i'll get from family and friends...then ill take the rest of my list and go shopping to my hearts content :)
I started buying things as soon as we learned the gender, around 19 weeks. We haven't bought any large items because we'll be having a baby shower and we are also going to use our income tax return to buy any large items that we need after the shower is over. I'm 26 weeks now.
I'm 16 1/2 wks with a boy now and I'll be buying everything at once when my tax return comes in this month, lol. We have a girl so unfortunately we have to start mostly from scratch with everything so we're going to need every penny.
with my daughter we bought a few small things the entire pregnancy, but didn't buy anything major until after my shower at 7 months because then you know what you need and sometimes the things you want to buy people will get for you at your shower :).
Dh was always so nervous about buying baby stuff until he was sure if the baby was born that it would survive (around 28 weeks) so i had to wait until then to actually start buying stuff. i had a baby shower around then too so got a lot of the big stuff (crib, changing table, bassinet, playpen) unfortunately i havent really bought anything because i have another baby shower this week so i have to wait! lol. but next week we will probably go out and buy the bulk of things we need.
with my first we started buying stuff around then. Some of the bigger items are kinda expensive so we wanted to get it early. I think we bought the crib once I was at about 20 weeks, chancing table slightly after that, then sometime around then was Christmas and that's when we got the cars eat and stroller.
Things like the pack n play, and diaper genie II we got at the baby shower from family members.
One piece of advice, get anything that needs assembly (like the crib and changing table) before you get too big that you can't help, It was fun getting the stuff set up with hubby!
I don't think there is a 'safe' or right time to start buying bits-its so very hard to resist as everything is so adorable-like sparks Im in the UK, we tend not to throw baby showers so its up to us-oh what a shame! lol
Im nearly 26 weeks & haven't brought anything yet simply because I lost my babies last year at 22 weeks & I had brought a few bits.
Like I said there is no right time so I would say when you feel ready go for it! I think Im going to have to start buying soon-I cant hold back any longer!!
If it feels right-go for it!!!

I'm 10 wks tomorrow and I am dying to buy stuff!! I've bought a few outfits so far (gender neutral) I hope to have a girl but don't know. I have a few items from when I was pregnant before and I m/c. I am not going to buy much stuff until after I have my baby shower in May and I'm due Sept 2nd. I want a few months to be able to purchase the things I don't get as gifts that I will need.
