FEEDBACK WOULD BE VERY NICE/HELPFUL
Yes, you can be pregnant. Not taking your pills as directed, as well as antibiotics can both cancel out and make them less effective. You need to take a pregnancy test and go from there.
Do you know exactly what birth control does to your body during the first week of bc? I've been doing some research and haven't been too successful. Sorry, I know my question seems a little obvious that i could be pregnant. I'd love to just know the actual birth control process in that week, so i know being pregnant is less than 50/50 chance! Thanks!!
When you have sex on any given month you have a 20% chance of pregnancy. If you had just started taking it, you weren't actually yet protected. Birth control usually takes several weeks to become fully effective in your body. I'm not clear on specifics of when things are done, but birth control works to stop ovulation and cause the uterus to become an unfriendly environment for the fertilized egg.
It takes a month for birth control to actually take full affect. And the fact that you were on antibiotics and missed your pill basically made your birthcontrol as if you were eating candy it did nothing for you.. so if you were ovulating you could be pregnant. Your best bet is to take a test. How long ago was the unprotected sex?
Thanks! About 4 days ago. I immediately took a bc pill after though... could that help at all? And this will be my 5th month on BC!
I've also read somewhere that sperm can live up to 5 days in your body?
It can indeed, and in perfect conditions can survive for 7 days. Just taking one after is not likely to do anything however. It's just a waiting game from here on out.
For added protection, it is wise to also consider using condoms in addition to birth control. It especially comes in handy for situations like these. Anytime you miss pills you should use additional protection for at least 48 hours.
Thanks to all! This is good information to know! I guess I'll just have to wait it out...
Birth control is not going to do anything if you had already became pregnant, it is actually very bad for the baby. Like drugs and alchol.
Doesn't it take a few days to actual conceive and become pregnant?
Conception itself happens very quickly. An egg is only viable for 12-24 hours, so they join very fast. What takes awhile is the actual implantation of the egg. This usually occurs anywhere from 6-12 days after ovulation/conception.
So, basically its not that easy to get pregnant. Its more about when you're ovulating and most fertile? As well as the quality of the sperm? Sorry for all of the questions... I'm very curious and a little worried.
It is and isn't. You have to have sex when you're ovulating, or in the days leading up to ovulation. A female can't get pregnant without ovulation, otherwise there is nothing for the sperm to join with. They are just absorbed by the body. The quality of the egg, the sperm, your cervical mucous, the acidity of the vagina, and timing all influence this. And then even if the two DO join the egg might not implant, one or the other might be bad, the uterine lining might be too thin, you could have a luteal phase defect making conception difficult... There are dozens upon dozens of things that can influence pregnancy--it's quite amazing when you think about it. Even things such as stress can cause you to not get pregnant or get a period.
Yup. Many don't realize it, but the vagina is acidic. It's pH level is anywhere from a 3-4. The vagina is self cleaning, and being acidic it can kill any foreign bacteria that enter it. (You also have healthy bacteria in the vagina, necessary for things to work smoothly) However, this can kill some of the sperm, making it difficult to conceive a child or a particular gender--especially if your levels are off or you have too much/too little bacteria levels.
Are there any pregnancy symptoms that aren't the basic missed period, morning sickness, etc. that are detected in early, early pregnancy's? Can some women be intuitive when it comes to knowing theyre pregnant?
There are, but they all mimic PMS, virus, hormonal imbalance, other medical problems, etc etc. They would be breast tenderness, nausea, vomiting, headache, fatigue, bloating, cramps, appetite changes, frequent urination, etc.
Some women can just know, yes. But I've seen many women who claim they know, only to find out they actually are not.
I've also noticed a pinkish discharge when I wipe.. Is is implantation? or spotting from taking the pill irregularly? Its been 5 days sense the unprotected sex... probably too early to spot, right?
Not necessarily. It could be either or. You can take a pregnancy test in a few days, and if it's positive you know it is implantation bleeding.
If you have at any time had sex unprotected then yes you could be pregnant. You should use condoms-especially if you were taking antibiotics!
If you frequently forget to take your pill maybe you should think about a more permanent contraception?
Hope everything works out for you x
Okay! Thanks for all of your advice! Helps me out a lot!
Meant to say-the only way to know is to take a test or visit your gp x
For anyone who HAS been pregnant.. did you ever feel a heaviness or a random sharp pain on the lower left side of your abdomen? Recently I've been noticing uncomfortable pressure around that region. Although, could be something else.
