I am sorry I just now saw that you asked a question...Yes, the temp you use for a newborn would be okay, but I think it might be a little too cool...You could go just a little hotter and would not affect the baby...I have heard of drs recommending hot tubs, so I am pretty sure you would be safe, just make sure it does not turn your skin red, then it would be too hot...Do you feel any better yet?

I found this when I was pg and I took baths every night for back pain. Hope it helps.

Most health care experts allow pregnant women to take tub baths throughout pregnancy, as long as the water is no warmer than 100 degrees F. Many experts recommend avoiding hot tubs and saunas,

I agree that a warm bath would be just the ticket...lifting my daughter when I was pregnant gave me a constant backache!

Also to add to what Clysta suggested...fill a sock with dry rice and tie the ankle shut...you can heat it for 30-90 seconds at a time to get it to the perfect temp, it lasts a long time, and you can keep reusing it over and over....don't let it get TOO hot, but because rice naturally pulls humidity from the surrounding air, it's unlikely to catch on fire. I had a rice sock as a heating implement for my most recent kidney stones and omg it was heaven..my husband was heating it up every hour for me for like a week because it was the only thing that kept me from whimpering in pain lol...it's also flexible and easy to place!

Yeah, I've had back pain this whole pregnancy. I just rest and take warm showers, but it still really doesn't help. :(

The way I was told for a bath is if you can get in and out without flinching then it should be ok. (unless you enjoy baths that scald your skin off, lol) In place of a heating pad though, I used water bottles filled with hot water. It worked a lot better for localized pain than a heating pad would.

i also had back pain at around 6 weeks really bad too, i thought the worse but when i stopped lifting my DD it went away, i still get it and am 10 w 5d,
you can take a warm bath as long as it not steaming hot your good, i also used tylenol and warm press on my back and a pillow under my back worked wonders too

I too had lower back pain all my pregnancy...In the very beginning I had severe cramping with lower back pain, and my dr. told me that the cramps were due to everything changing in your stomach, and the back ache was due to me over-doing it..I took tylenol and soaked in a warm bath and it seemed to help me...I would not be too worried....Try to relax...I know, I know so cliche, easier said then done.  Everything will be okay:)
