For as long as you have the hCG hormone in your body you will feel pregnant. Symptoms don't mean the pregnancy is viable or not, it's just how your body reacts. It's vital you have another scan done to see what's going on.

You would have been 6 weeks at the time of the ultrasound, so you should have seen something. A gestational sac, fetal pole, etc.

The main concern is that you have low levels, nothing seen in the uterus and you're anywhere from 7-9 weeks. That overall is not a positive sign, but if your dates are off it would make a world of difference. For example if you were 4 weeks pregnant that would be perfect.

This is an approach that can be used, but it depends on the doctor and situation. In many cases Methotrexate is enough. (hopefully the link shows)

In order for an abortion to work with methotrexate.   It has to be used with a medicine called misoprostol a few days after the injection of methotrexate

For an Ectopic pregnancy that has not damaged the tube, methotrexate is one of the top choices used as an alternative for surgery.

Ok i may be confused but isnt methotrexate used for diseases caused by rapid growth in cells.         Like psoriosis.     It is very harmful for fetuses.  And can cause a sudden miscarriage.  I have never heard it used to purposely cause abortions.   Or even that it is supposed to be used in that method.

With a LMP of November 23rd, you would only be 7 weeks pregnant right now. How are they calculating your due date/weeks pregnant, and when was the ultrasound done?

Usually you should see something on the ultrasound at 9 weeks unless your dates were off. Your levels are still going up, but they aren't doubling every 48 hours like they are suppose to. Given your numbers and the fact that you've had the methotrexate shot, it doesn't sound good. Definitely keep us posted on what happens! Hopefully everything turns out okay and the pregnancy continues to progress normally.

If you were supposed to be 9 weeks pregnant it is definitely not to early to see a fetus. Have you had an ultrasound that shows anything in your uterus? When was your LMP and when did you find out you were pregnant?

So they haven't seen the embryo in your uterus?  If that's the case then it could be that the methotrexate shot hasn't worked yet and it is in fact ectopic.  Sometimes more than one shot is needed to end the pregnancy, and it can take up to a month.  They will continue to monitor you and your hcg levels to make sure they do start falling and will decide whether to give you more of the medication if needed.

If you were 9 weeks pregnant then a fetus would definitely be seen in the uterus.  There is always a chance you got pregnant later, but Fri will tell.  Depending on what they see or don't see you would have to discuss with them what the implications of the methotrexate would be.  Good luck!

Methotrexate is used to stop the embryonic cells from continuing to divide.  Besides it's use for ectopic pregnancy it is used to end viable uterine pregnancy as well, so yes...if your Dr. gave you that shot then the outcome likely will not be good.  In some cases 1 shot is not enough, but most of the time it is.  You need to be closely monitored.  I don't know how it works in cases of ectopic pregnancy, and I know it can be life threatening, but it seems to me that this medication should not have been given to you before an ectopic pregnancy was unquestionably diagnosed to be the case.  I am so sorry if that is what happened.
