no heartbeat at 5-6 wks when would i m/c

hiya i had a scan on monday and was told my baby measured at 5-6 weeks with no heartbeat ( i didnt know how far i was because i had a natural m/c nearly 11 weeks ago i fell pregnant before my period) anyways i was just wondering how long it would take for me to miscarry naturally? would it take a few weeks ?? i have no signs of m/c and still have  mild sore breasts. i have just had my first blood sample taken to check hcg levels.i dont know whats going on at the moment , have the docs got it wrong? is it to early to find a heartbeat? or will i miscarry in a few weeks? please please please help x xx   p.s  this would be my 3rd miscarriage

hiya the thing im really confused about is i have heard its impossible to have a positive on a prg test at 1 n a half to 2 weeks prg, but my baby is only measuring 5-6 weeks which means it would have been only 1-2 weeks when i found out, so something is definately not right..... maybe i am having a missed miscarriage and the baby stopped growing weeks ago which leads it to onli be measuring at 5-6 weeks if that makes sence

I had no heartbeat either at 5 weeks, it took till the 7th week to find one, so keep a chin up and see what your HCG levels would be, and if they go down instead of up.. stay hopefull

Like Vanessa said, I'd have them to check to see if your blood levels are still going up. It just might have been too early for them to hear a heartbeat (no matter what they say when they measure!) I've been dealing with exactly the same thing, they told me I was more than 7 weeks with no heartbeat and wanted me to start planning for a D&C rather than waiting for a m/c. I went back in four days later and we found the baby, just barely 6 weeks along with a little heartbeat. My friend said they couldn't find a baby or a heartbeat with hers until 9 weeks.

It's good to stay realistic that you could m/c, but don't let the doctors office entirely convince you that this is over until it's actually over. They're not always perfect.

Your previous miscarraige could have thrown your cycle off causing you to ovulate several weeks after the m/c...then you got pregnant again on the first cycle.  It's quite possible that you AREN'T miscarrying.  at 5 wks 3 days I had a scan and all we saw was a gestational sac...nothing else.  3 weeks later we found the yolk sac, fetal pole and heartbeat...i'm now 14 wks 2 days.

IF you ARE miscarrying though it may take days to weeks for it to happen OR it may NOT happen at all and you will have to a d & c.  But I wouldn't rush into anything like that too quickly/.

Was the sack completely empty? Or did it measure too small?? I had an ultrasound last week at 5 weeks, and they only found a yolk sack, however said that everything was fine. If your blood levels are doubling as they should, it might just be a little too early. I have hear that sometimes it takes up to 9 weeks!
Let me know what happens! And Good Luck to you and your jellybean!
