pediatrician?

FTM and I'm a little confuse on whether  to meet with a pediatrician. Do I set an appointment first to meet with them or just call and say when I'll be having a baby?

Not all hospitals assign you one. Mine gives you a temp one and if we didn't have a permanent one by the time she's born they wouldn't let us leave with her. So maybe call your hospital and ask first.

And yes you would, just let the office know you applied for medical coverage for her and if they'd take neighborhood health plan, they'll tell you exactly what they accept.
And if youre young enough, and liked your Dr I say just call them and ask for the baby to be put under the same Dr. Makes it way easier because then you don't even have to meet with them and even if the office isn't accepting new patients 9 our of 10 will still take the baby anyways because they know you already.

At the hospital if you don't have a pediatrician they Asign  you one! I'd wait till after you have your baby, the hospital will give you a time you need to make the appointment for.like mine assigned me within like 2 days since my baby was in the nicu

Thank you! Helps a lot. I'm under my mom's insurance though, and it may not cover my baby and I did apply for medicaid so I would be looking for a pediatrician that'll be cover with Medicaid, right?

You'll have to look around and call a few offices, not every office will be accepting new patients. Do your research online, as much of it as you can. Find places close to you, ask family members with kids about their drs, make sure the office will accept whatever insurance you'll be using. Your OBGYN should be able to recommend you one too if you asked.

I recommend going online to your insurance's website, they should have an area for you to research a practitioner by name and it'll give you a lot of information.

Then once you've found someone you think would be a good Dr, just call the office, inform them youre having a baby and would like to meet with such and such Dr and they'll set that up for you there.
It kind of sounds like a lot but its not really that bad, plus you'd hate to get stuck with someone you don't like. Good luck(:
