pregnancy, periods, gynaecosid

Dear Doctor,

My girlfriend and i regularly have sexual relations without the use of a condom as we practise coitus interuptus. On one particular day, when she was sure about her time of the month, I came inside her. For more than a week since, she has stopped having a period.

We are not against having a baby, but would prefer a suitable time. She has told me about a drug called gynaecosid that apparently restarts periods. However it seems to be a drug to use for a condition called amnoerhea (forgive my spelling). Obviously we are grossly misinformed and would like your kind advise, as to what is the drug gynaecosid, administered for and what are we to do in our situation?

Looking forward to your help.

Well...The drug Gynaecosid actually has nothing to do with contraception or the prevention of pregnancy....for the emergency prevention of pregnancy...a drug called Levonogestrel otherwise branded as Postinor-2 is used...its also worthy of note that Postinor -2 is not a permanent contraceptive drug in itself..its mainly used for emergencies....On the other hand..Gynaecosid is used in a condition known as secondary amenorhea....this is when a lady who has previously been seeing her menstruation...suddenly experiences a ceassation in her periods...sometimes for as long as two months. .in the absence of pregnancy....Gynaecosid should never be used in an existing pregnancy

thank you for your post. It really helps to know other people's opinions when we are unable to think right. I much obliged. Any further insights from you and other valued members here will be highly appreciated. Forgive the stiff language, i'm in over my head at the moment. Can anyone also enlighten me on gynaecosid, its use and effects, or any details.

we're not dr's, but i'd rule out pregnancy before i did anything else. drugs in pregnancy need checking out with your dr. i got pregnant 3 times due to failed contraception and i went through with all the pregnancies. i don't regret it one little bit. and the first time i was caught i was only 18. if she is pregnant, you really need to consider your options carefully.
