I just got on wic today and they gave me a bunch of papers on different issues and one they gave me was on constipation...
It says to increase fiber gradually over several weeks. Too much too fast can cause gas, cramps, and diarrhea. But to help ease the constipation/prevent it to eat more high fiber foods including:
100% whole wheat, rye or pumpernickel bread
Whole wheat pasta
Baked products made with 100% whole wheat or rye flour
Bran cereals
Bran muffins
Green-collard, mustard, spinach, turnip
Green beans, brussel sprouts, carrots, corn, peas, potatoes, tomatoes, zucchini
Apples (with skin), bananas, blueberries, oranges, peaches (with skin), pears (with skin), stewed dried fruits, strawberries
Dried beans and peas (legumes)
Nuts
Prune juice
Also, drink plenty of liquids (8-10 glasses per day). Fiber holds water. A high fiber diet can actually be constipating if you don't drink enough liquids. Eat 5 or more servings of whole fruits (not juices) and vegetables a day. Eat several servings of whole grain breads and cereals a day.
That all also helps with hemorrhoids..... Hope this helps.
whats phenergan? The zofran did the trick for the nausea but the GERD is not being treated right now.I took an enema I think thats how you spell it for the constipation and it worked a little I think when I do it again 2morrow I will be fine
thanks guys.. i will definitely try it....
I don't know how they are treating your GERD but my doctor prescribed me the zofran, phenergan and told me to also take Pepcid.
ok I will def try it out I have gerd so Im trying to get this undercontrol now I really cant be throwing up like this b/c of the gerd, my throats already damaged booo but the zofran works it just makes me not be able to go so fibogel here I come!!!! Thanks again!!!!!
Fibogel worked better for me because I have ibs aswel so it was a little bit more gentle, and didn't then send me the other way xx
I was wondering why all of a sudden I went from not vomiting to not going either since I was put on zofran! Ok so I need a stool sofner? so which is better out of the colace and the fibogel?
I went from having diarrhea and vomiting to having not gone in 6 days now...ever since being put on zofran...oh yes...the best of both worlds!
I know this must be rough but be thankful that your not having diarrhea like I am. Only been constipated once or twice in the 9 weeks I've been pregnant. But now I'm having that and I go 2-4 times a day! Ugh :( lol
Fibogel is great it helped me and is safe in pregnancy
I've been suffering from constipation today too. The pain is awful and all I want to do is go the bathroom! My sis n law had very bad constipation when she was preggo as well. She would go days with going to the bathroom. Her/my doc said that fiber is a must. She could take fiber pill/drinks to relieve the problem. Unfortunately it always came back to haunt her. I'm hoping this isn't the issue for you or for me. Let me know what works for you to relieve it.
Oh my constipation with my last baby was bad I literally thought I was having a miscarriage. I was doubled over in pain and couldn't move. It causes all kinds of pain and it's starting again when I woke up this morning and I can't go to the bathroom :S UGH. My doctor has told me Colace.
Backache can be from constipation. Drink lots of water, walking helps too. Many drs say stool softeners are safe and fiber pills are safe. Eat lots of fiber, apples, shredded wheat cereal..
hi.. u really are.. i have orange juice and fibres yet this.. i guess being a mommy after all is not easy..lol.. congrats you will be seeing your little one soon.... take care..
I haven't I'm 32 weeks and not really constipated at all I must be lucky, try drinking orange juice or something along those lines
