soo sad!!! friend shakes baby!!

First let me tell ya, this is a friend of a friend. she is married, twins 6 mos. ,a boy and girl. (graham and Gracen). she also has a alil boy that is 4 years old. she lives out in the country where she has to travel 45 minutes to a store for anything. well anyway, she ran to the store on christmas eve with the 4 year old, the hubby calls her and tells her to get home he can't get gracie to stop crying and throwing up. she leaves her cart in place in the store and flies home. when she gets there she notices she is limp,funny color in the face. will not stop throwing up.  now she thinking she has the flu or maybe a allergic reaction to something. they called a paramedic. when they got to the hospital they find a healing fracture on the babies shin. hmmmm. maybe from birth, i don't know. they asked what did you do to this baby, the husband admits to shaking her,because she wouldn't stop crying. he was arrested right there. and she also got her kids taken Away. this happened on christmas eve. now that lil 4 year just wanted to go home and wait for santa to come. so sad. i just cried and cried when i got the call. baby gracen has a hemmorage behind one of her eyes. not sure of any brain damage now or not. but not good. they told them there could be damage. still testing. i had to share this. as we were out finishing up on christmas eve, Gracie was being shaken. and now she may be a forever 6 mos. baby.  Remember, no matter how bad your baby ever cries, never shake them. my poor friends live and baby is ruined.

That poor poor angel. She is only 6 mos old. She cant help being upset. If it was my husband I'd let him rot in jail and I'd be filing for divorce papers the next day. That is awful.

I agree bimi- I wouldn't bail my husband out, let alone try and reduce the bail.
I would never be able to trust him again around the kids, all of his visitation should have to be monitored. I know she loves her husband but that is unforgivable, I would leave him.
That's just me though.

makes me ill this man deserves no BAIL!!!!! to do this to a helpless child? id never bail my partner out if he hurt our kids, and as for the mother, she should get out and leave him and start a new life give the kids some ope of a pain free future.

felsha - The mother isn't the one that did the eye hemmorage...so the question was why were the kids taken away from the mom...and the answer was because of the shin thing.

This is very very sad, but babys are good at bouncing back...hopefuly he didn't do to much damage, that's all anyone can pray for now.  The dad was so stupid, but I don't think he did it to hurt his child.  He did it out of frustration...which does not excuse what he did!  But I'm sure that's where the wife is coming from...the man she loves mad a stupid, stupid mistake but that doesn't mean he's bad, I guess.

That being said, I've had this discussion with my husband and have told him that if he ever did that to our child I would never forgive him.  If she won't stop crying put her down and walk away.  I would probably want his bail reduced also so I could get him out and beat the **** out of him...

We had our daughter in a military hospital and they make you watch a movie about shaken baby syndrome before we could take our baby home.  The sad thing was they would have a lot of guys coming back from Iraq or Afghanastan and they would be so wound up from it all that they couldn't calm down easily and would shake there babies.  It's very sad, and really hope the eye hemmorage is the worst that has happend to this little girl!

They did not take the kids away because of "the shin thing".  That is least on their priorities.  They took the kids away because of the eye hemmorage.  The "leg thing" is just secondary to brain & head trauma.

the kids went to the grammy. i think because they are so unsure with the shin thing they took the kids away. better yet the mom is going to a lawyer today to try to get hubbys bail reduced. if that were my daughter, she wouldn't get those kids. social services is making the gram take the other twin in for testing.

That is a terrible thing.  I work at a hosptal & I've even seen that happen.  I can't tell you how truelly upset now & how I get when they come in.  No one truelly realizes how helpless a baby is.  I just can't believe anyone could do such a thing.  Not trying to sound predjudice, but most of the time it's males, b/c they don't have to go through the labor & feel the bond that there is.  Such retards! I really am sick!!

This makes me so sad and disgusted. How can anyone shake a baby? If you get frustrated put the baby in the crib and walk away, go outside so you cant hear the crying and calm down, it's that simple.
Why did the kids get taken away from the Mom? Did the kids at least go to family?
Don't you think if the shin thing happened at birth the pediatrician would have noticed it at one of the well baby check-ups?
I hope Gracie is ok and doesn't have any permanent damage.

i'm afraid for Gracie. she tiny, she was 2 mos. premature and the size of a 4 mos.old. the daddy says Gracie always cried around him and didn't like him. soo ridiculous. the guy is nuts! that whole shin thing. i wonder.

That's absolutely awful. This happened to my cousin. Her babysitter and/or the babysitter's boyfriend shook her baby boy so bad that he's mentally retarded now. I will pray that this sweet, innocent little baby girl does not suffer that same fate.
