I havent gotten any stretch marks but i dont think you really see them until you lose your weight. I got some on my theighs with my son bc they gained fast. They got bigger in the first couple of months. I have only gained in my belly this time.

Eating healthy to gain weight at a steady paste and going for walks help prevent them also

It's genetics but a slow steady weight gain helps
Instead of 0-50lbs in 2 months ;)

I can tell you no cream is going to prevent you from getting them, its all about your skin. I applied expensive cream 2-3 times a day with my first and I am covered in stretch marks. My sister did nothing and has none. It really depends on your skin.

i know this is old, but Im bored so im gonna post anyway!!!!  My mom got stretch marks with all 4 of her kids, and my sister didnt get any with her daughter, and then my other sister didnt get any till her second child, but me... I went all the way to 32 weeks without getting any, now I have them, on my stomach, hips, butt, legs(creases by my knee) inner thighs, outer thighs.. Im covered!!!, I was really upset about it at first, but then i realized that my DB doesnt mind them at all, he still loves my body, so i gave up caring, I am using coca butter now everytime I get out of the shower and they are starting to lighten up, I used it during my pregnancy as much as I could remember. but I got screwed with the whole genetics thing lol..

Like everyone else has said its mainly genetics, I'm 23 weeks and i have ones from when i was in highschool from losing weight due to a stomach issue and they have just extended the father along i get. Atleast they are just the little silvery ones. My ob also told me that it helps if you dont gain weight too fast it will help alot, gives your skin more time to stretch without causing stretch marks. I use palmers cocoa butter lotion atleast once a day and it has helped alot. the lotion will also help with the elasticity of your skin so it stretches easier and so it doesnt itch.

I'm 40 weeks pregnant right now and never got any strectch makrs. I did use a stretch mark prevention cream by Revitol, however the true reason behind stretch marks is genetics. If your mom got stretch marks when she had you, chances are you'll get them as well. My mom had 8 children and never got one stretch mark, I am very lucky =D

Yep, nothing you can do to avoid them! I gained 29 lbs with dd and didn't get one. Then I gained 49 lbs with 2nd dd and didn't get one. My mom never had one either. Yet I know people who gained very little weight and got a ton! Hopefully you have good genetics!!

LOL and that would truly be amazing if you could get stretchmarks on the inside of your belly button! :)

My mom had 3 kids and has NO stretch marks!  I have 1 and got stretch marks all over my tummy, where I had NONE before.

My mom said she rubbed baby oil on her belly everday after showering, I did this too but it didn't work for me.

Sadly, it's genetics!  I didn't get the good genetics.

I only gained about 35lbs my whole pregnancy. I used pure vitamin e oil and palmers coca butter 3 times day from 12 weeks until the very end. I ended up getting my stretch marks after I had already given birth. I think they are pretty much unavoidable and will happen whether you want them to or not.

ive heard that its genetic also, that if your mama got them, then your pretty much doomed to get them even if you use the lotions and such. the lotions can help make them not so bad, but cant prevent them.  i used lotion everyday hoping it would help, and up until my 7th month i didnt have any then they came on full force, just mostly on my lower back right above my booty. i did go from 118 to 173 though..yikes!! haha

I got all of my stretch marks in the last 2 weeks of pregnancy. It was like all of a sudden...BAM! They were there. Even if you get through pregnancy without any, good luck getting through breastfeeding without them. Your chest gets so large and so fast, they they're inevitable.

More power to you if you get through everything without them! They eventually turn whitish in color and not so noticable.

Ok thanks for the advice. I'll defanetly try to cocoa butter too. I think I am starting to see some on the inside of my belly button, but maybe thats just because my b.button is turning inside out.. idk

I gained 56 lbs with my first pregnancy and never got one single stretch mark.  I used Palmers Cocoa Butter twice a day...........or at least everyday after showering if I forgot the other time.  I am now 15 weeks along and am doing the same thing so I hope it works again.

I do agree though that it can be genetic, however my mother got them when carrying me and my brother so you would think I would have gotten them............but didn't.  I would say go ahead with what you're doing or get some Palmers Cocoa Butter because it might just work:)  It's worth a try anyway!

I've been pregnant (full term) 4 times now and I've gotten new stretch marks with each.  I look like a walking world atlas....but I consider them souvenirs of the wonderful experience of creating a beautiful new life and bringing it into this world. :)

Hi, just gave birth last April 2007. And believe me, I have NO stretch marks at all. I gained 46lbs the whole time of my pregnancy coz the amniotic fluid amount is too large. Anyway, try putting Vitamin E lotion all over your tummy. And those areas that you think might have stretch marks in the future. This is what I did since I was 5mos pregnant. Just thought it might help.

I've been told countless times that there is nothing you can do about it or prevent it.. and lotions don't help. they can ease the itchiness that come with the stretch marks, however. i have them bad on my breasts, but nowhere else and am almost 24 weeks now... i'm hoping i still don't get any, but i doubt i'll be so lucky.. :P

My first pregnancy I didn't get stretch marks except on my hips. I was very thin. My second preg. I was 50 lbs heavier than the first pregnancy and I think my skin just stretched a lot more, causing stretch marks.

You can get stretch marks on your bum, your thighs, behind your knees, hips, stomach, breasts... those lotions don't really work, and I think they stink! At least the one I had stank. Most stretch marks are genetic and unavoidable.
