suppose to be 10 weeks but only showing as 6

Question

I am predicted 10 weeks pregnant. The other day I had a very light spotting on my toilet tissue which concerned me, so I went for an emergency scan. It has made me very upset as the scan revealed the fetus only looks six weeks old instead of ten. the nurse explained there are two things this could mean, 1. the dates of my last period are wrong or the baby is small  OR 2. the baby grew to six weeks and decided to stop and the pregnancy is over!  I have to wait ten days for another scan to find out what is wrong.  Has this happened to anyone else?  does anyone have any advice?

i'm 7w2d pregnant but the ultrasound only showed 5w5d and a faint heartbeat?  i am so worried and go back for another in a week.  has anyone been through this?

Did anybody see a heart beat because my doc said I was 5 weeks 6 days and I thought I was 7 weeks 3 days but there was a heartbeat i have to wait another 12 days before we will do another ultrasound he said one week may show some change but two would show a more significant change It is really hard to feel positive when your Doc tells you to proceed humbly And really this scenerio gives me a positve pregnancy test 1 week after conception is that even possible

hi there hun. i did actually miscarry unfortunetly as the fetus didnt develop.however everyone is different so try not to worry as things may turn out fine for you. i am now 30 weeks pregnant after trying again and ive never been happier.good luck with this pregnancy :)

I am also going through the same thing.  I have two ultrasounds and the first said 5wks  which I had last week and the second one that I had this week says 5wks and 3 days.  The doctor states that he doesn't feel that this pregnancy is viable and that I will miscarry.  He gave me the option of letting nature take its course or getting a D & C.  I have decided to wait and see if nature will take it's course.  I haven't had any symptoms of a miscarriage so I don't know what to think.  He also put me on progestrone as well because he said my levels were borderline.  All I can do is pray and hope that everything turns out positive.  Good luck!

Hi, I was wondering how things turned out for you. I am in a similar situation right now. My last period was Nov. 11, 2008 and we planned for this baby so I know what dates we had sex. Dec. 9, I had a positive blood test and then found out my levels were low so the doctor put me on prog. and they seem to be rising approp. I had my U/S today 5 weeks after my positive test and it should a yolk sac measuring 6 wks. I know I have to be further along then that. Doc. seems positive but it doesn't add up to me. I would appreciate any advice you can give.

darlin, the last visit to my doctor she examed me and got 11 weeks. the scan said 11 and 4 days. and i know I was doing 13. of course i keep track of things i want. Girl! nothing is wrong. the ultraound give an average measurement. these things were not made to give you personal details, but average details. sometimes the doctors uses hcg before going to the ultrasound. For my first pregnancy, the ultrasound said i was due 12th March. that would make it 1 week before 10 months. According to my date, 40 weeks would take me to the 21st of February. I had the baby the 19th of February. my belief, if you were a pitit infant, chances are you have a pitit fetus. and around 40 weeks, whether the ultra sound say 10 or 50, the water will break. Having a baby? you are blessed. Too blessed to be stressed.

Just wondering how it turned out for you? I showed up as 5w5d instead of 7w2d at a scan after a big bleed, and i haven't miscarried. My hormones are increasing, but I am sure about my dates. I was paying close attention because I planned the baby for after my wedding, and I ovulated on my wedding day. (I can feel when I ovulate as it hurts) I am due for another scan on Monday the 17th March, and am by my dates, 8w1d today. It is driving me crazy because I know without doubt that the first day of my last period was definitely 17th Jan.  They said something may be wrong with the baby...

hey hun...dont worry to much..stress is no good for you or the baby!! That is one thing you know for sure! I was ten weeks last year or i thought i was...the baby was only showing six weeks also! I had alot of bleeding tho..almost like a period so i knew i was miscarrying! I did but i wouldnt worry about a little spot...you may have your dates mixed up! that happens in a lot of women with my first i thought i was 17 and i was really only 14! That pregnancy ended great and now i have a beautiful lilttle girl! Try to not worry about it tho! I kno its going to be hard but you can do it! Good luck hun!
