Bleeding wouldn't affect a pregnancy test. For best results take it with first morning urine.

Then you should go the Dr's office and get the blood work done.

Sounds like a positive then. Hopefully the blood test will give you a better answer. Also request a ultrasound to determine where the bleeding is coming from.

A blue dye test is a normal urine pregnancy. Some use blue dye which usually give a + or a - vs a pink dye test with is usually just two lines going up and down if positive and one line going up and down if negative.

well it was a normal urine test and my period is not heavy as usual but more of clotting. and the cramps were bad at first and now they have gone. i will make a appointment with my dr i did phone him today and he said it is possible that i can still be pregnant but to be sure i must come in a do a blood test.

Blue dye tests (not sure if that is the kind you took) are notorious for giving false positives. Its possible you either got an innaccurate result, had an early miscarriage or have some kind of early pregnancy bleeding. Best thing to do is contact your doctor and see what they think.

Actually some types of ovarian cysts produce hcg and can cause false positives - you also get severe pain when they swell or burst, so sometimes this can be the case.

But to the original poster I would make an appointment ASAP too in case it is just early pregnancy bleeding and not your period at all. But you say you had sex a week before getting a positive test? are we talking like 5 days, or more like 10? Just curious because that might affect why your test was positive...if it was only like 5/6 days, most likely it was an evap line or a false positive or something, but if you were like 10 days after the sexual encounter (and due for your period) it could well have been a chemical pregnancy, early miscarriage, or pregnancy with early pregnancy bleeding....

best thing to do is to see your doc. best of luck, keep us updated!

Maybe it wasn't your period. Maybe it was just heavy bleeding. Either way get to a doctor asap to make sure you are ok

it's most likely a miscarriage unfortunately.   The cramps are horrible with it.  I never had cramps before with any of my cycles and only had them when I was having a miscarriage.     My dr said it was early that i even found out I was pregnant and that most would have just chalked it up to a bad cycle.  If you are concerned I would call the dr's office.  I was actually at my drs appointment to confirm the pregnancy when my miscarriage started.

I took a pregnancy test the night before my miscarriage happened and it was still positive.   The Dr said it could stay positive for a while after that since it just started.

There's no such thing as a false positive. An egg has to be fertilized and implanted in order to release hCG hormone, which is what is detected by pregnancy tests. Could b chemical or ectopic pregnancy. Both of which end in miscarriage. Most women who miscarry so early don't even realize its a miscarriage. Make spot w doc to confirm pregnancy or miscarriage. Good luck!

It could be a false positive, or an evaporation line, you could have had a chemical pregnancy, you may still be pregnant. If you have irregular periods and think this is an actual period then I'd say you probably are not pregnant. But if you don't think it's a regular period you can test again. I suggest using First Response or Clear Blue digital, they're two of the most sensitive tests.

hi yes the lines were both dark at first the first line was slighlt fainter than the other but then both went dark but its not like my normal period its more like blood clots and a light red not a heavy flow like i used to get.

Hiya

The test could have been wrong... it depends! How strong was the pregnancy lines? Was it a faint positive? Some tests can show evaporations lines - given false positives.
If you have started a full flow period like any other then you're probably not pregnant, but if you're only spotting you could still be pregnant. Maybe you should take another test to make sure it is negative before you rule out pregnancy.

It sounds like it could possibly be a chemical pregnancy.
