Hiiii, your post about the "pinching" in 2 different places and now being pregnant with twins has got me soooo excited!! I'm 6dpiui and today i had one big cramp when i stood up, but then it went to a "pinching" type feeling one on the left was stronger and the one on the right is a little less strong but def. feel the pinching. Its been going on for about 1hr 30mins or so and when i thought they were done I stood up and they came right back but not as constant as in the beginning. Can you tell me how else you felt? how long did this pinching go on for, did you have any spotting at all? i keep checking and nothing yet!!! Thanks and congrats! (I want twins) and i released an egg on both right and left side with the hcg shot, i was also on clomid 50mg.

First of all, they can never truly determine if twins are identical unless they are in the same sac (before they are born).  I am 21 weeks pregnant with twins (they believe they are identical but are not 100% sure), as it could be 2 placentas fused together.  On the flip side of things twins can never be deemed truely fraternal (in utero) unless they are boy/girl.  Once they come out they can usually determine if they are indeed fraternal - but blood tests are the only way to know for sure if they are identical.  (FYI - Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are fraternal twins).

But like Carla LP said - she needs to seriously talk to her doctors and find out what is going on.  There is a chance of survival, but with a 40% heartbeat (I'm guessing by this you mean it is really low - below 80bpm), then sometimes the twin will unfortunately not make it.

As AnnieBrooke said - what could be happening is something called twin to twin transfusion syndrome - where one twin (donor) gives all it's nutrients to the other twin (receiver), thus causing problems for both twins.  This happens when their blood vessels cross in the placenta.

I honestly cannot tell you a survival rate - this is something that has to come from the doctors.  Hope all goes well!

The risk is that if there is cross-connection of blood vessels between the twins, one twin's problem could cause the other twin problems.  Please urge her to see a perinatologist right away.

Hi- I am 12 weeks pregnant with identical twins. Their heartbeats have always been in the normal range and always exactly the same or within a few beats of each other. Sometimes it takes twin B awhile to 'catch up' and sometimes the twin does not make it. She is almost done with her first trimester though so that is encouraging. It may be a signal that there is a heart defect. I woulden't say that her case is doomed, but she really needs to have a serious sit down with her doctors and she should see a high risk doctor or a perinatologist asap. If she will allow you to, go with her to the appointments and give her lots of love. I have a VERY high risk pregnancy myself and need all the support that I can get. Good luck to you and your daughter :)
