ultrasound

Alot of ppl have told me that you only get a certain amount of ultrasounds while your pregnancy cause that's all insurance will pay for. Is it true and how many have you moms had?

It varies by insurance.
We decided to wait 'til I was 12 weeks along for our first ultrasound with my OB (insurance paid.)
Then we went and had an elective ultrasound (we paid for) in 4D at 15 weeks to find out the gender early.
At 20 weeks we went in for an anatomy scan ultrasound and because of the way the baby was positioned we had to come back at 26 weeks for a clear view of her heart (insurance paid for both.)
I'm 29 weeks now, in our mid 30s we get another one through our OB and insurance will cover that one as well.

I had my first at 8 wks 4 days. It was free. Dating scans in Australia are free. After that unless u r on Centrelink and a single parent or severely low incomw you pay for all others and then claim about a third back through medicare which is our national health care system. We dont pay to see our dr here either unless u have a specialist. Australia has amazing health care. I am shocked by the costs i hear about on this sight.

I've had 6 but I live in Ireland and maternity services are free :) you usually only get 2 a dating scan and anomaly scan for measurements of heart and bodyparts :)

Omg, and to think I thought having to wait 4 weeks for an ultrasound is way to long. Some moms only get 1 or 2. I'm 15+6 weeks and I've had 2 ultrasounds already.. Starting at 8 weeks I saw my OB and then every 4 weeks I go in for an ultrasound. I'm scheduled to see my baby on Thursday then I find out my little peanuts gender at 19 weeks :)

I have medicaid. I'm almost 18 weeks. I've had 3 ultrasounds. And I go for another in 5 days. I know they plan at least 2 more but I don't think they are 3D or 4G because I'm not high risk or anything.

I had my first ultrasound at 5 weeks to see how far along I was. It was to early to see anything so I had to go back in 2 weeks. For the 3rd one it was out nt ultrasound and the first time we got to take a print out home.  Our next ultrasound is our anatomy appointment.  And the last 2 will be just monitoring growth I think

Im 35 weeks, My insurance only pays for 2, and I've had 2, it will only pay for more if there's a medical reason for me to have to have one. So it just depends on your insurance

I've had 4 so far and I'm 26 weeks. I was only suppose to have three but baby was being stubborn and kept moving so at my anatomy scan they couldn't measure one side of her heart ! It just depends on what insurance you have and also how cooperative your little one is ! I'll be getting another one probably around 36 weeks just to check and see how she's growing but that's pretty much it ! Anything else I have to pay for which I'm getting a 3D ultrasound Sunday (:

If you absolutely need an ultrasound due to your health or baby's health they'll do it but if your ok with no problems then they might not do it as much, I'm 13 weeks an only had 2 so far but starting at 18 weeks I'll be getting an ultrasound every week till I have the baby due to health concerns for my baby :,(

I've had 3 so far and getting a 4th in a couple weeks.
The 3d one I had to pay 75 for out of pocket. 2 were ones that are routine...and the one coming up is because the doctor ordered that I'm measuring big

I had one at 9 weeks (my first appointment) I then had another at 20 weeks to check developments and find out the gender and I then had to pay for my 8 month sonogram because Medicaid only covers two sonograms where Im located.

I've had three but my insurance only pays for two unless medically necessary. And the first ultra sound was because I was bleeding. And this last one was for bleeding. Im 15 weeks 5 days and my baby boy is really big and healthy

I only had one. And I'm 39 weeks. Only way I get a second one is if I'm over due so they can check fluids and what not.

Yea depends on insurance cause i had three going for my fourth to find out the sex next week the first one was cause the doctor couldn't tell how far along i was and i wasnt sure of my last period because i been spotting every month until i took a test then the second and third was cause the spotting each month turned into heavy bleeding each month and i was in the beginning stages of a miscarriage as they say but i am 22 weeks and my baby is healthy thank god but my insurance paid for all of them

It depends what insurance you have and the reason the doctor puts down for your ultrasound.

Its true. Ive had four, im 14 weeks. I had a bleed in the beginning so thats what #2 & #3 were for. Lets just say I owe my ob over $1,000 for those two ultrasounds because my insurance *****, I even had to pay for my first. My fourth was my nt scan, my boyfriend paid for that
