need advice on braxton hicks and mucous plug at 22 weeks?!

So I am 22 weeks along, and this entire pregnancy (my first) i've experienced this feeling that i assumed was the baby turning/flipping; i've come to realize that the feeling i have been having are braxton hicks contractions. Is it normal to have these so early? am i in danger of going into preterm labor?
A few days ago, i also noticed a large chunk (sry lol) of mucous when i wiped. could this have been my mucous plug? Is it possible for a women to continually lose her mucous plug during pregnancy?
any advice would be nice :) im trying to decide if i should let things play out until my next appointment or give my doc a call or head to the birth center

well they are not always regular, but i have been counting and it could be from 0-2 per hour while sitting or 2-4 an hour while up and around. i heard if you have more than 4 an hour, you should go to hospital...

I have been having BH contractions since around 15/16 weeks too. I have noticed if I'm not drinking enough water during the day I will feel them in the evening! Definitely ask your doc! How many do you feel a day?

i;m not so worried about the mucous plug, but the braxton hicks. I've felt these since i could feel baby, so that makes me wonder if it was very early to be feeling them (around 14 weeks)

I agree with kaprovea it never hurts. To call and talk with the dr. I started getting braxton Hicks early with my last pregnancy around lik 24 26 wks but they were very sprodiac sry about spelling.  I have read that u can loose pieces of ur mucous plug at various times but it will regenerate. If its something that still has you feeling uneasy them call ur dr

I think no matter what happens I would call the doctor .. I think that it is a little early to be loosing your mucus plug.  As for the braxton hicks contractions .. It may be a bit early for these also but I know that a lot of people have braxton hicks for a long time before they actually go into labor.  I hope everything works out but I would definitely call the doctor to discuss these things with them.
