I am going to just leave it Kathryn Rain without a hypenation in it, thanks for all the information. This really helped me decide how to do the name.

I am glad I am not the only one who delt with a hypenation in their name some where and hated it. I chose not to do that to my son's last name and my mother especially things I should have.. I feel bad that I didnt give my son our family name- but also cant change it at this point.

I am more a fan of Kathryn Rain not hyphenated.  I have known people throughout my life who didn't have a hyphen but were still called by their first and middle name.  Like "Sarah Grace" or "John Mark".  Their parents called them by both names so everyone else followed suit.
I have found that whatever you call the baby after birth, other people will too.  I named my son Nicholas and called him Nicky and everyone started calling him that so I had to start calling him Nick when he started school because he didn't like Nicky.
We named our daughter Aurora and at first thought we would call her Rory but decided not to.  Other than a few people who just really wanted to call her Rory, everyone called her what we called her.
I think if you call her Kathryn Rain from the get-go, so will everyone else.

My first name is hyphenated. I hate it when people only use the first half. When I was younger and a teenager I had to constantly ask people to use my full name. People always use my full name these days. Cheryl-Lee.

Im not a fan of hypens. My name was hypened Lesley-Ann and I didn't like it. It seemed like I had no choice in the matter and since there was another Leslie in the class I got stuck with Lesley Ann and it bugged me.

You might like it but she may not.

That way if it is un hyphened, she can still chose to use the middle name as the happyniffer saif in sarah Jessica Parkers case.

Id seperate it and give her the choice.

Thankfully the other Lesley left in high school and I tought everyone to call me Lesley alone besides the selec few that were used to the Ann.

Love Kathryn Rain -- for me the hyphenation makes it almost sound like Kath-rinrain ..whereas separating it gives the distinct KathRYN (pause) RAIN...lovely!!!

Nice name choice :)

I love Katherine Rain! Great choice of name, it sounds so perfect! (: I have a middle name as well. We hispanics tend to always have a first and middle name and my mom only used my middle name when I did something to upset her :/ oops..haha!

With my first baby who was a boy, we named him (rip) Angel Zahir and most of my family would call him Zahir and my husbands family would call him Angel! Now that we are expecting our second baby boy we're naming him Alexander Zadiel and already call him AZ!

not upset at all Caralea, i have no experience with -'s in a name and found it useful information.

What I think i will do is name her Kathryn Rain Eggleston. Which seems to go well together. I will just call her Kathryn Rain (Katie for short)

I personally didnt have a first name hyphenated, but my last name as a child was.. I HATED IT!! It is very tough to constantly tell people how to spell it/pronounce it.

As a first name I think seperatly and using both would be just fine. When she gets older she can choose if she likes it or doesnt or wants to use both or make her own nick name.

I was called Cari as a child and only 1 last name. As I got older I used my birth name Caralea- I loved the uniqueness. Before marriage I used my last name hyphenated- only for legal purposes.

Just my thoughts on - in names. Hope I dont upset you with this...

I'd say keep as is. You can use both names because it has a nice vibe to it...it wont sound like over kill on it. Kathryn Rain sounds very pretty together, so I would say you can get away with using it all the time.

not a huge hyphen fan...
no reason you can't use both everyday though (sarah jessica parker managed it :)!)
