try warm water (lukewarm, not hot) before you go to sleep. also again, if you can drink water, keep it up.
Reason I say this, the very sight of water gets my tummy all twisted-up inside and I get a wave of nausea. so if you can keep water down, load up.
Good luck, hope you find some relief soon.
licorice?? great tip! i've never heard of that one before, i'm going to try it---thanks, cat!
hi ladies, ive been to the dr's with contispation and he told me eat lots of chocolate and liqurice ad gave me lactolose which is a stool softner ad does not harm the baby. it said on the bottle 5ml three times a day but i only had a sip and yeah hay i was off. i now only take it when i really need to as liqurice is doing the trick. 3 sticks at night and it kicks in in the morning.
I've had it on and off, and yeah, it really is awful. I never had it with my first. I'd love to shower on the advice, but I've not quite mastered this one.
I also just got (***TMI WARNING!!***) my first hemmie... bleah...
it's AWFUL. it's so painful and horrible and just awful. So now I'm glad I'm constipated because I'm afraid to go, lol. Apparently I'm a complete baby when it comes to butt pain because it's really small, but omg it hurts and it is so just... weird. I'm praying I don't get any normal sized ones.
Anyone else joined the hemmie club yet?
I had constipation right away up until about 12 weeks. Dr. said to take an extra stool softener since they don't get absorbed into the system - just effects your intestines. Now at 15 1/2 weeks, it has started to come back again - augh...
Time to take the extra pill again.
Water, water, water. Also my Dr. told me I could take Colace (the stimulant free form) - so I broke down and took some last week, and it worked wonders!!! It is only a stool softener with no stimulants, so that means no cramping. It has worked for me, becasue I was miserable the entire week before I finally took some. Hope this helps!
I have also had issues with this. Not fun! I try to drink A LOT of water and it usually really helps. Another thing that I have found to help is decaf coffee or some decaf tea. It seems to work. Just keep your fluids up and drink juice, it should prevent it from happening in the first place.
My prenatal vitamins are Prenate DHA and they have a mild stool softener in them I believe that this is the only reason that I can go to the bathroom at all - I am having alot of problems as well - also I drink just one cup of coffee in the morning and that always helps me to go.
I am starting to get constipation now too. It really does suck! I hope you get some relief for it sweetie I know how you feel!
I'm so lucky, No. I was wicked constipated with my son and I took over the counter pills for it my dr said it was fine. I know that prune juice is good and stay away from rice etc. Have a wicked spicy mexican dinner or mcdonds that should work. I hope you feel better soon!!!!
