hi everyone my 7 week old was eating about 6-7oz per sitting i took him to a gastro dr because he was spitting up the gastro told me i was over feeding him that he should have 2oz every 2-3 hrs which is hard to do so i got him on a 4oz bottle now... he is also on rice cereal due to reflux,,, I also found out by him eating so much he could get a tear in his esophagus so i chilled out a bit because i could really hurt him... so to me your all doing the right thing but dr's would disagree..
My daughter will be 2 months (weighing 9 lbs 3oz until her 2month check-up) June 26, 2012. She drinks about 4-5 ounces after she wakes up from a 3-4 hour sleep. I breasfeed and pump, so if she needs more, I will give her another ounce.
Your babies are eating fine no need to worry....my little hulk (at least that's what he seems like) drinks 9 oz. Every 3-4 hours in the day but sleeps the whole night. Sometimes it seems like he wants more but seems too much for a baby to drink a bottle and a half lol. He was born 9 lbs 15 oz now he's 14 lbs

Our Baby is around 10lbs and 6 1/2 weeks eating 9oz over a 3 hour span then is fine for about 3-4 hours and it starts again. Is this normal? where does it all go? lol
CORRECTION: I meant the an ounces per 2 lbs!
At Jack's 2 month checkup (at 9 weeks old) his pediatrician said he should be eating an ounce per pound...he is 12 lbs 14 oz so she said 6 to 6 1/2 ounces per feeding isn't unusual and is normal. Jack at this point (he'll be 10 weeks on Monday) eats anywhere from 2 ounces to 6 ounces, depending on time of day. Middle of night, 2 ounces...right before bed, 6 ounces. It just depends!
My son is 5 weeks and eats up to 6 ounces every feeding. No wonder my breasts have a hard time keeping up!
Mine started 4 oz at a month old as well! My ped. said the same thing! He's 2 months and up to 4 1/2 now, but doing great with his feedings!
My son has been drinking 4 ounces since about a month old, and he's almost two months and is STILL drinking 4 ounces, my doctor said it's completely normal, hes just a healthy eater, and to feed him as much as he wants and whenever hes hungry, at this point hes just growing and needs to eat all he wants to!
That's great! My son has a well check in 2 weeks so we'll see how much he weighs then. :) I wish my son would sleep longer through night. I think he has his days and nights mixed up because he sleeps through the day great but then at night wants to eat every 3 hours! Ugh!
Absolutely - I love my little chunky monkey (my name for him) He is 2 months and drinks 4 1/2 ounces at each feeding every 3 hours - except in the middle of the night bc he will go about 5 hours before waking up for a feeding. So I think you are doing fine and so are all the rest of the little ones. My ped is completely fine with my baby's weight and feeding. He is 8 weeks and weighs 12lbs 13 oz (was 8lbs 7oz at birth).
Thanks girls I feel better about feeding him now. Whew! Congrats to all of you and good luck. :-)
I think your baby i sfine, according to my pediatrician, babies need to eat 2 and a half ounces per pound of body weight more or less according to ech baby. Like th rest of the girls state eveyr baby is different.
My James is about 12 pounds and he still every 2-3 hours each time is 3-4 ounces
My 4 wk old is eating about 4 ounces at a time. He is gaining well but nowhere near "chunky". It sound about right for a 2 month old/
My baby (born 7 lb. 8 ounces) is 8 1/2 weeks and is eating 4-6 ounces! He eats 2 ounces during his middle-of the night feeding (to tide him through) and 4 ounces during the morning and daytime, but at night he gets HUNGRY and eats 6 oz. per feeding. Actually - tonight he gulped down 6 oz before bed, then woke up crying 30 min later. I gave him another 2 ounces thinking he'd just sip a little and pass out, but he gulped that too, then went to sleep. He probably would have eaten more if I gave it to him. He's in perfect weight so I'm not worried. I call him my little PIGLET! Oink oink, I say to him. :)
It is different for every baby. Babies wont eat more than they need, they stop when they are full, so no, he isn't eating too much! There is nothing wrong with a chubby baby, its just if they stay too chubby past the toddler years that is cause for concern.
Since about 6 weeks my son has been emptying both breasts at each feeding and based on what I can get out when I pump he is getting between 6 and 8oz. He is a big baby though (9lbs 5oz at birth) he's already in 3-6 months clothes. At his last check-up he was 13lbs and that was 3 weeks ago.
