When does the baby turn?

I know it is still early but my OB made me worry a little at my last appointment. He said that the baby is in breech position and that I will have another u/s closer to my DD to make sure he has turned. Isn't it still pretty early to expect the baby to be head down?

In my brithing classes, they talked about the importance of meditation and visualization.  She said that when it gets closer to delivery (since they are turning all over the place right now) to spend some time each day to visualize the baby in the perfect position for birth.  It couldn't hurt!

OK, I figured it was fine, I thought it was weird that he even commented on it since it is so early. Thanks for the responses!!

It depends gr all babies are different. With my 3 other babies they turned around 28 wks this lil man however is already and waiting in birth position I had a fetal scan 2 wks ago that confirmed that in fact I felt him turn and drop into position and a u/s last wk and he was still in the same postion and lower. He is ready for the big day...LOL. I wouldn't worry yet you will know your belly will drop!

Hugs,
AP

I am glad Jessbbg said what she said, because my little guy seems to be everywhere right now, he is never in the same position. It seems kind of early to be worrying about it.

It's funny how they make us worry... why do they do that??  It's true that some babies don't turn til the last minute.  It's also true that a doc or midwife that knows what they are doing can turn the baby themselves by manipulating the belly (externally).

With as much as we are all probably feeling our little jelly beans wiggle around, I'd say it's pretty safe to say that no one's baby is in anything describable as a position yet.  They're all still doing somersaults right now, so the way your doc feels (or sees via ultrasound) the baby right now is likely not how your baby is positioned 2 hours later, let alone come delivery time.

You can relax.  If the time comes that delivery is looming and he once again finds the baby not positioned to his satisfaction, ask if he can perform a manual manipulation to move the baby to a safer delivery position.  There's no need to be concerned this early in the game.  Now should be when you are enjoying the "Where's your butt?" game, where you feel around on your belly and try to see if you can guess what body part is what (or which body part is beating you up at the moment!). ;-)
