You sound like such a great mother in law and you will be a wonderful grandmother. Remember you can't force her to do anything but you can keep talking to her and show her your concern. What does your son say? Best wishes to all of you!

I have talked to her repetely to go to a Dr,. I have printed all the free agencys and she doesen't call.they live 4 miles from D>C> in Arlington and there are many clinics. She is taking her prenatal vitamins, she got those in the emerency ,where she found out she was pregnant. Thanks for answering my question.I think I need to take action, like taking her there. After all this my first grandchild.

Honestly no matter if you agree with it or not it's her body and baby it is her choice. It doesn't mean I agree with it but there is nothing you can do. I'm sure she knows the risks etc. I'm sorry you have to go through this. Hopefully something will click and she will go. If she is 5 mos along that is good is she eating good and taking vitamins etc? I think back to the days where they had no pre-natal care and women had babies at home. I'm grateful for technology and medicine but is there something that happened to her that is making her not want to go. Have you talked to her? Best wishes to you your daughter in law and that baby! Good luck and let me know what happens!

No insurance shouldn't be an issue as any pregnant women is entitled to state insurance, at least at a low cost, if not free.

It's pretty neglectful to not see a doctor yet. Although my best friend didn't realize she was pregnant until about five months, so she had not seen a doctor by then. Luckily, she doesn't drink or smoke, and ate pretty healthy at the time, so everything was fine. But, still, your DIL needs to get to a doctor ASAP. My question echos everyone else's - why hasn't she seen a doctor? Even if no insurance or low income is the problem, there are free/low-cost clinics everywhere!

Prenatal care is crucial.  Not only can not seeing a doc put the baby at risk but mommy too (preeclampsia etc.).  She needs to get in to see a doc asap.  Hopefully, she is taking her prenatal vitamins.

She HAS to go to the dr.  There are so many things they can do to help prevent problems and deal with them if the baby or her has them.
As GRose said, she needs to be on prenatel vitamins.  I too would like to know why she hasn't seen a dr??

Yes it is.

Has she at least been taking prenatal vitamins?
Not getting prenatal care really increases her chances of having a still born.

May I ask why she hasn't seen a doctor?
