Don't worry about it!!! I also tested positive for Group B Strep..I had my baby boy on June 29 and all they did was put antibiotics in the IV that was already in my arm anyways. My baby was fine and I honestly forgot all about it. Many women test positive for this and with the antibiotic put in the IV you and your baby will be just fine. The danger was when doctors didn't test for it (like they do today) and it went undiagnosed - and the mother didn't get the antibiotic during labor. No worries! Just make sure you get that antibiotic and I believe the chance of anything passing to your baby is less than 1%! Oh, and I wasn't held at the hospital any longer than anyone else. Good luck and try not to worry! :)
Nope not at all your stay in the hosp should not be extended. I had it with my older two and my 3rd and this pg negative. I didn't have to take anything after I left the hosp with my older two. They just administered the antibiotic through the iv and that was it. Every situation is different but in my experience it was no big deal! Good luck I hope you have a great delivery!

I am positive also and my doc said i will have antibiotics when i get to the hosp and another dose during labour and then oral antibiotics for 1 week after bub is born. It shouldn't make your stay longer. Getting close!
I am strep b positive it didn't make my stay any longer!
Hi i had Strep B with my daughter and had IV antibiotics as soon as i got to the hospital in labour. Once she was born they took the IV out. It only needs to be in until baby is born. I'm not due for another 7 weeks but i found out i had strep b with this one also and i've already had a 5 day coarse of Anti b's and will need it again when i'm in labour with this one.
So to answer your question it won't make your hospital stay any longer.
Good Luck.
