I had my oldest my son at 25. Now I'm having my youngest son at 32 I feel the same now as I did then. I'm a woman who has every possible side affect of pg and no matter what I do I gain a ton of weight and have huge babies. I couldn't agree more it is a very hard job being pg you have to learn to balance yourself better and protect your stomach make sure you are keeping yourself healthy and making sure your baby is safe and healthy at all times. That is what a mother does but it truly starts in utero and never ever ends. It's hard work but it is the ultimate gift.....Having your child in your life forever. My greatest accomplishment is being a mother of 3 almost 4 beautiful children. Will you miss your baby bump I will maybe not right away but at some point I will.

isabelle---i WAS that girl!! i was the one who went to the gym every day and had a body fat % of a whole whopping 8. i had zero fat on my butt (always been a problem) and my boobs were itty bitty. But now? omg, i'm a 34DDD, i've been able to go to the gym once since i got pregnant, it's basically comical.
i feel like i'm just so far off track, since the first semester had me so tired. i've never been so tired in my life and could not survive beyond work---i would crash as soon as i got home, and there are still days i can barely do anything, but i feel like that's because i'm so out of shape.
i hate how fat i've gotten. my muscles are wasting away and my fat deposits are expanding like mad... I have zero stamina left---walking up the stairs to our third floor condo leaves me literally winded most of the time. I expected to take this whole pregnancy in stride because of the shape i was in.
Guess not... :-(
I think everyone's experience is just so different, it is hard to compare.
GRose, you are right, women who've never been pregnant wouldn't understand. But then, even women who have been pregnant might not!
I have been very lucky to have easy pregnancies with all 4. ((knocks on wood)))).
Last week, I took my son snow tubing, and I have been playing baseball with the kids on these nice days we've been having. Other than being a little extra tired, I feel completely normal.
At the same time, I have a friend and coworker who is *SO* sick she is worried about losing her job. She is almost 16 weeks and still throwing up 10+ times a day. We are also the same age (30).
There are a lot of factors in how you feel, and I think genetics is probably the biggest part of it, as my mom had 4 easy pregnancies, too. Don't mean to brag, I definitely thank God daily for my blessings!! = )
I am 23 and this will be my first and it is a lot of work. I had nausea up until around 12 weeks but I have dealt with migraines and headaches. I have a weird dull ache in my upper back on my right side that won't go away. I have gotten colds a lot more that last longer because I don't take any medicine for them other then vitamin C. I just can't wait till it is time to push JT out.
You guys are going to hate me but I haven't had a hard pregnancy at all. No morning sickness at all, not overly tired, the heartburn happens but a couple of Tums take care of it.
The only thing that's been bothering me is how out of shape I'm getting and i'm not even eating more than I had before and I'm not exersing any less. My thighs have turned to jello and my HIPS OH MY GOD! My pelvic bone hurts soo much when I turn in bed or stand up! But I try not to pay too much attention to it because it will hurt more.
But pregnancy is deffinitely not for the sissies.
I know exactly how you feel. I will be 38 in May and I'm 24 weeks pregnant. I've never felt so old and out of shape in my life!
I really believe that age does play a role in the type of pregnancy you have... except for the women who go to the gym 4-5 times a week and have a BMI of 12, I think that age does slow me down, I'm not overweight or anything but I've gotten "thicker" with age, and I still have some baby weight from 1st pregnancy 4 years ago... like an extra 15 pounds or something... anyways I feel like this should be my last baby cause I'm out of shape.
I also have had to deal with feeling a little embarassed about saying that I'm pregnant at 37... a teacher at my son't preschool said something like : wow, you're courageous at your age for having another baby, I couldn't have done it... heck my kids were teens by the time I hit 40!" wonderful
just my 2 cents
I am AMA (advanced maternal age) - I will be 36 when this little girl arrives. I am sooo tired all the time. I have an 8 year old that keeps me busy but it's not like running after a 2 year old. Getting my 8 year old up and ready for school can be a challenge. By mid day - I can't keep my eyes open. Right now I am working from 4 - 8 pm and I get home about 8:30 or so. I agree - this time is much more exhausting than it was 8 years ago. I also found my 1st daughters baby book and realized that I am the same size around now at 5 1/2 months as I was at 8 months with my first! Oh my...
This is my second and I am 22, I was 20 with my first and both times I have felt like pregnancy is hard work. This time around is even harder since I have a 2 year old to worry about, I am tired all the time, all I want to do is sleep. Don't get me wrong I LOVE being pregnant, I LOVE feeling my baby move and kick inside of me but none the less it is really hard on a womens body. I hate trying to explain it to people who have never been pregnant, they don't understand and I feel like most people think prego women are just wimps.
I don't know - I'm 26 and this is my first and maybe I"m just a wimp, but sometimes I feel like this baby is kicking my butt! First I was nauseous 24/7 right up until about 14 weeks, now I"m having dizziness from having to come off of an anti-anixety drug that I have been on for panic attacks, and it feels like my left ribs are trying to rip out of my skin. And just last night my feet and ankles have started to swell! Its all well worth it, and you ladies are probably laughing at me (well deserved :-) ) for all my little complaints, but I have friends that are preggers and all is well in their world - I"m a little jealous. Anyway - just wanted to vent some. Have a great day you guys!
amen, cat---this is my second, and I'm trying to figure out what it is that i did to deserve a difficult one the second time around. we should start a club. AP, wher u is? you with us, sister??
it's either because I'm older (my son is 7, I'm now 30), or because I'm having a girl this time. I told my partner last night either i'm allergic to her, or his daughter hates me ;-)
