sex during first trimester

Hi all,

So, here's the scoop. Last week, I had a lot of brown spotting after sex. When I went to the bathroom and wiped, there was pink/red blood. The next day, it all disappeared. We have not had sex since then but I know we probably will this week, and I'm worried that it's not healthy. I've spotted very light brown today and a couple days ago, which I know is common so I'm not worried. But, I'm just wondering if any of you have had to abstain from sex during the first trimester and what the doctor's reasons were for suggesting that. My first appointment isn't until January so I have a while to wait and am just curious what others' experiences have been with regards to this issue. Thanks!

Maybe you should tell your doctor about this... it might be nothing at all but just in case... also, you might want to write things down in a journal, symptoms, frequency, duration... for future reference and to give your doctor a clear picture of what's going on.

If having sex is causing you to stress out about the possible damage to the baby, maybe you should refrain... what's a few months in a lifetime, right?

good luck

It is fine to have sex but if you are concerned about the bleeding you could always call your OB to make sure.

I've been bleeding too, and the doctor never told me not to have sex, I've just refused to do it cause I'm too scared. But normally sex is fine during pregnancy unless there is seriously something wrong. If you keep bleeding I would call your doctor and see if they can get u in sooner.
